Nice to see "Bedford, GB" is now listed as a workplace venue on the Universal Creative recruitment website.

Hoping this is in the right thread, please tell me if not and I'll move it!

This is from the Non-Technical Summary.

For people wondering about access to the "City Walk" area, as it was being discussed a while back... This confirms that non-park guests will have access to the restaurants, shops and anything else that's there.

I find "arriving earlier" interesting, is that part of the model in Orlando? My recollection of visiting Disney Springs (different company, I know) was that nothing opened until after 10am.

Universal's Citywalk is open before the parks if you want to arrive early and have breakfast.

Crikey I’ve just seen a skyline outline view from both Stewartby and Wootton in the docs. I think it’s showing what the back of the buildings will look like from the outside of the park.

They’re huge!

This clearly confirms the entire park is completely indoors. HAHAHA :)

No it doesn't. That shows the maximum height of any building, at particular distances from the site boundary.

That illustration is typical of the entire planning application that Universal have submitted to the government: Universal have set out the "design envelope" of what they want to build, with a series of design principles of broadly what can be built where, but no specific details of what they actually propose to build. Universal states that once they have determined what they exactly plan to build they will reassure the government that their detailed plans meet the design principles laid out in this application, which the government is set to approve later this year. It is remarkably broad permission they are seeking with this application, entirely different from typical planning approvals sought from local authorities or the National Planning Inspectorate in the case of nationally significant infrastructure projects. Bedford Council's priority projects consultants wasn't kidding when he told one of Bedford Council's committees that this process was breaking new ground in terms of planning permission processes.

You need to relax a bit Rob, I was just joking about it being indoors from the clearly simplified graphic looking like a huge building hahaha

*edit* Saw your reply Yep.

Just the idea of a 240 acre large completely indoors theme park boggles the mind lol.

This is excellent news, I love a breakfast!

I hope they have some good full English options.

Seriously though, I'd love to see them have some good early morning offerings. I love grabbing a croissant on my way through Disney Village at DLP, it would be great to do the same with a bacon sandwich on the way into Universal.

Apparently UGB can't have fireworks but a drone show could happen.

It seems the BBC have found some interesting things in the docs.

www.bbc.co.uk

Universal UK could feature Europe's tallest rides

New plans show the theme park firm wants to compete with attractions across Europe.

I think I read in one of the documents that Universal were seeking permission for a small number of fireworks shows per year, less than 10 shows per year IIRC. They mentioned 5th November, Diwali, New Year’s Eve as special events in the context of fireworks.

They also mentioned drone shows.

I think that makes sense - drone shows are generally considered to be the future of night time shows, especially in Europe. Look at what they've been doing over at DLP with the Electrical Sky Parade; I would expect Universal to want to compete with that level of offer. And long term, drones are probably more cost effective than fireworks anyway, right?
