Just spent a week there. It's our favorite WDW resort. The just completed refurb of the rooms is excellent. They were very good before, but now they're even better. The new design is perfect for a long vacation. They've added lots of new shelving space. The long dresser has been extended by about 33%. Now there's extra clothing drawers and a large space for luggage and/or clothing. And that translates into a very long shelf space. They also added tiers of shelving throughout the room and bathroom. Finally, a resort room that appears to be designed by a person who takes long vacations. The room is themed to Tiana, with pictures and some wallpaper in spots. The former dark brown walnut furniture is now a shade of antique blue. And a comfortable Tiana themed padded bench/loveseat with a table is perfect for snacking.....The French Quarter is probably one of WDW's smaller resorts. But that intimacy is its strength. Buses are rarely crowded, only make the one stop, and get to all the parks in apx. 8-12 minutes. The full service Boatwrights Restaurant at Riverside is within a short walking distance, or you can take an internal shuttle. The boat on the river will take you to Disney Springs. And there's carriage rides available. The Food Court has a really good selection of food choices, some Nawlins inspired. There's also an excellent Beignet Dessert restaurant, that's always filled. That tells you something. But, our fav part of the resort is the Scat Man Bar and Restaurant that has excellent live entertainment, Blues/Jazz/Pop bands, on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays. The pool also has a really cool design with musical configured Alligator characters, similar to Tiana's, throughout. Landscaping is well themed to New Orleans and has excellent upkeep. And, since it's really about adults, there's not a lot of kids around. Very quiet and relaxing always.

Mad Dog, I love you brother. And I’ll read everything you post. This was informative too as my boyfriend and I may stay here.

We need to teach you paragraphs.

Love this resort. It's one of our favorites too. My friends call it their "home resort" as if it were DVC. :lmao:

I’m glad the moderates are getting some love. Coronado is one of my fave resorts at Disney. I just hate how expensive they all have become. FQ is usually a little more expensive than others.

Generally they're getting high. But they had a really good discount on French Quarter, so I did a spur of the moment vacation. I try not to go to Orlando in the summer, but the discount was 35% or 40% for that week, discount percentages that usually only the overly expensive deluxes ever offer. . WDW has been discount crazy this summer. Caribbean Beach has gotten more expensive than FQ, probably because of the Skyliner. But FQ used to be the most expensive, and hardest to get, moderate.

Do you mind sharing how much you paid and for what room/how many nights? This is a resort we've been curious about.

The discount took it down to $233 for 6 of the nights and $248 for the Friday. Two Queens room....I originally was going to add a few nights there mid November for my November Universal vacation, but at, I think it was around $350 a night, that was way too expensive for a moderate. I'm paying $330 AP rate a night for Portofino the same week. That's why, when I saw the huge discount, I did a spur of the moment booking just a couple of weeks ago even if it was summer, which I hate in Orlando. Fortunately, we only got some short minutes of rain. but the heat was bad, though it turned out it was a tad higher back home in Pittsburgh. ...That's my second trip to FQ. We were there two years ago for our honeymoon.....In the past FQ only got 10 to 15% discounts when they offered discounts, and those filled up super quick.
