I truly do not understand how anyone could obtain the property rights to Friday the 13th and the Jason Voorhees character and decide a prequel series about Pamela before the Camp Blood Massacre happens is the right way to go. I love Pamela and I'm thankful for what she got started but come on, my guys.
They should just outright copy the Evil Dead template that Raimi and Co. have created: take your IP, find an up and comer with a distinct voice who has a passion for your IP, let them do their spin on it, keep the budget low, churn out a new entry every 2-3 years and keep the fun and quality high and you'll have a successful machine. If the first one or two new films is successful and you want to start branching off onto weird side quests like limited series in the quest for more money, have at it.
I want Jason. I want him to have a fresh gimmick or hook. I want him for 90 minutes. I want to have fun and chow down some popcorn. That's all you need! I don't need a drama series about the Crystal Lake community and I just know my frustrations are going to boil because I'm not going to be shocked when there's a taste of adult Jason wrecking havoc in this series just enough to wet the appetite but not enough to sustain anything. Bummer.
