This is the main reason why a TL refresh is necessary. At the moment, the shops comprise of mostly DreamWorks, Illumination and generic Universal merch that can be found elsewhere in the park. The restaurants, are not well attended and rarely see significant crowds. Putting a Krusty Krab at Comic Strip will pay for UOR's 5th gate lol

I think they could easily use the existing structures to convert the land over as well - just change the exteriors of the buildings.

Ripsaw Falls = Glove World/Goo Lagoon?
Popeyes = Jellyfish Fields
Existing shops/dining = Downtown Bikini Bottom

(and the background music loop already exists... )

It's a fascinating problem. The area is undoubtedly underutilized from a food and merchandising perspective, but it performs reliably well in terms of attractions and ride participation. Other areas need the help significantly more, so... Toon Lagoon continues to sit.

Dudley closure 10/6-10/31 for seasonal maintenance.

My view has always been keep TL branding and keep the rides, but redo Comic Strip Lane.

Could easily tie whatever you replace that area with into a new attraction on the Toon Lagoon theater plot.

Spongebob mini-land/attraction at the theater, turn Comic Strip Cafe into Krusty Krab. Who says no?

I was thinking SLOP and making it a transition from Marvel to TL with a cartoony NYC

I'd keep Popeye, raze Dudley, and raze Toon Lagoon Ampitheater. Have it reflect animation from multiple forms, the classic old school; the modern era of Western animation--and the advancements of eastern animation.

Toon Lagoon as a concept has fun to it. But it needs to be modernized in a way that makes it relevant for younger audiences that makes sense.

What if One Piece replaces Popeye? Keep the same flume and such but redo some theming. Maybe? Or am I just an out of touch millennial?

Seems like the best solution is keep the present rides as they are, they're popular, and no real reason for an expensive change there. Yes, change the two restaurants on comic strip blvd. And, of course, do 'something', 'anything', with the forever underutilized Toon Theater. A fairly inexpensive fix, as theme park standards go.

Very similar idea to what they did with Production Central/Minion Land (except a bit more elaborate).

I’d be shocked if I’m 10 years this isn’t rethemed to SpongeBob, and the TL Theatre is its own, seperate experience.

BUY!

CARTOON!

NETWORK!!!

Convert Dudley into Adventure Time.

Convert Popeye’s into a “Cartoon Cartoon” catch-all featuring EVERYONE: Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, Courage, Ed, Edd, & Eddy, Steven Universe, Gumball…

Raze the Ampitheater for a “Williams Street” with a Rick and Morty attraction.

Boom.

Who do you want more from when mommy Discovery and daddy WB: Loony Tunes or Cartoon Network? I'd rather take Looney Tunes, myself.

Well, depending on what they'd be able to actually put in, Looney Tunes would be one heck of a twist of fate considering IOA's history.

I wouldn’t want Loony Toons for a retheme. I’d love Universal to get both and start leveraging the Toons in the Studios as a ground up Simpsons replacement.

Imagine a MMRR scale ride with the practical aspects of SLOP.

Cartoon Network....the mix of a land with Steven Universe, Gumball, Adventure Time, Chowder, and Craig of the Creek would have a chokehold on a group of people that Bugs and friends would not be able to reach.
