This just still seems like a poor choice in retheme. If they were also building the scrapped "Great Muppet Movie Ride" as well, it'd be better

This will be interesting to see

"Muppet Coaster" is a solid pitch. Zany, high energy, colorful. Rock music mixed with musical theatre. I see the vision.

I've said it before, but had it been any other show, this would be universally seen as an upgrade for the IP. More people are going to come to Disney to ride the Door Coaster than have ever actively planned on seeing Laugh Floor. Festival of the Lion King is cool, but a Lion King flume ride is cooler. It's a great shame to lose Muppet-Vision for many legitimate reasons, but it's wonderful that we're not losing the property totally. It seems like they understand that The Muppets are beloved and deserve a spot, and a larger one at that. Rockin is a headliner, and now, The Muppets are too. That's cool.

It's all about execution however. If they give us a cheap retheme where the exact look of the G-Force studio is maintained with only a few little winks to Muppets, then we are in the bad timeline. I want them to deck out the entire studio as if The Muppets ransacked the place. I want the entire queue to look like the Muppet-Vision preshow rooms. It should look like they moved in and treated the building like they treat the hotel in Great Muppet Caper. I want paint on the walls, haphazard set pieces, silly signs and sticky notes, weird in-joke stuff like "A Net Full of Jello". It should be unmistakably Muppets.

Also, we riot if we don't go through the middle of the Muppet Show logo like Gonzo at some point.

We also need animatronic muppets. If they don't bother and cheap out with screens, that tells you just about everything you need to know.

If it’s all screens (sigh), the bare minimum they could do is reuse Statler and Waldorf... right? I mean, they’re right there… not hard to do... RIGHT?

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is probably closing early next year. So, turnaround time would likely be similar to Mission: Breakout-around minimum six months, maybe up to nine or ten max.

This roller coaster is such a monkey's paw response for the endless whining of Muppets fans wanting to be represented in the park. I don't think it fits at all and the only upside down coaster at Walt Disney World shouldn't be matched with the Muppets IP, it doesn't make any sense.

It's time to let them go. Any attempt at keeping them alive in the park feels as shallow and unsuccessful as the many attempts to bring the Muppets back with TV shows and movies.

I think it's fair to question this. But can we agree that the only upside down coaster at Walt Disney World shouldn't be themed after Aerosmith?

Let’s take one of the most children themed IPs and make a ride no small child can ride.

To quote my own BlueSky post from back when this was announced...

"I guess The Muppets taking over Rock 'n' Rollercoaster -- a thrill ride kids can't experience -- suggests Disney understands the primary audience for these characters at this point is... nostalgic adults. Tough pill to swallow, but there it is."

Totally, the Aerosmith theme definitely overstayed it's welcome. But at least the edginess of a rock n' roll band makes more sense with this ride.

Nostalgic adults may love the muppets , but they still want to bring their kids with them on the ride

I love the Muppets, but they missed an amazing opportunity to have the music be from Powerline from the Goofy Movie. I would've booked a ticket opening week of the ride to see that! The Muppets? Ehhhh....

This. Could've been a "high-speed limo to the concert". Wouldn't have to change much, just add to it.

Or do the actual concert style lighting like the former Paris version. Eitherway, missed opportunity

This is another legitimate concern I have with this retheme. "Muppet Coaster" is a solid idea, but one with the intensity of Rockin is questionable. It definitely alienates at least a portion of the Muppets' audience.

I also totally agree on the "Muppets is an IP that has to be aimed at adults" take. It's a very specific property from a very specific creative team back in the 70s and 80s. Kids that were born the same year as The Muppets (2011) could be high school freshman this year, and there hasn't been much of a push towards a younger audience since the sequel bombed a few years later. The biggest success has frankly been the Muppet Babies reboot a number of years ago, but then we're back around to the upside-down coaster concern.

Well, we're here now, so I guess we'll see what happens.

Also, Aerosmith being removed is definitely a good thing. The Iguanodon and Carnotaurus aren't the only dinosaurs to be removed from Disney World this year, now we can add Steven Tyler to the list too.

And while this point is honestly quite true, it's also why a retheme to A Goofy Movie/Powerline would've been a far better choice. There's plenty of nostalgic adults for that movie, and you've could've kept the race to the concert aspect (or have it focused on the concert with a Paris RnRC lightshow) quite easily.

But that's clearly not what they're doing, so all I hope is they put the effort into the Muppet retheme.
