As a horror fan, is the show something I should watch? Or is it kind-of a stretch to be considered "horror"?
No offense to you specifically but this line of questioning has been
beaten to death with a super sledge over in the HHN spec threads ever since Fallout was rumored for the event (hell, even over the last couple years when it's popped up on rumor or wish-lists). And I'm just getting
really tired of defending this sweetroll of a property to the uninformed; Again, no offense to you UNIrd, as there's been far more egregious dissent elsewhere.
It's now confirmed to be a house at the most popular horror event in the country and arguably the world. If that's not enough consideration for your opinion on it being
at least horror-adjacent,
you have this line of questioning leftover:
If you want to know what to expect and don't want to play the games: watch the show.
If you don't: don't.
Truthfully, even if you don't want to watch the show and you know nothing about the games, i don't think I need to pull out the history books to show anyone how people all over the world spent YEARS afraid of nuclear fallout becoming a real life event. It literally defined decades of our historical landscape and became a reason we have fallout shelters
in real life and a post-apocalyptic genre in fiction. If that isn't horrifying enough for people to understand why a series
about it actually happening is considered horror, i really will weep for the future. Fallout might not be as sci-fi horror as Alien or as action-horror as The Mummy or straight up horror as Terrifier but it IS in its own little satirical niche and absolutely belongs at the event
and i WILL die on this hill (thank you).
