It feels strange having the experience of watching a major theme park destination being built from the ground up and having it become and be seen as visible and transparent as it has been over the course of the past 7 years. And while I am not able to come visit this year; I am immensely happy for all of those who have made the trek prior to today, today, or in the future to come.

From Fantastic stories to Epic vistas; the fact they have done what they have with this park is incredible. And even if I will be there next year, I really wish I could’ve gone earlier.

They're probably not closing attractions down (for the day or temporarily) for minor and major adjustments like they were doing during previews. So today the mostly full menu of attractions is available. (Ministry always going to be questionable for a while).

While it’s good that nothing is closed today, the wait times for the formerly closed Werewolf (5 min) and DK (25 min) are so low that it’s hard to imagine those rides sucking up enough capacity to significantly affect other rides. Like Hiccup’s shot up to 55 minutes pretty quickly on Sunday, but it’s sitting at 5 minutes currently. And DK was pretty much always at 60+ during previews and has looked close to dead today. Not complaining of course, just unexpected.

They sold 17,000 tickets, and 15,000 of those people are in the Ministry queue. Haha.

Living proof why Virtual Queue is bad for the rest of the park. No VQ helps keep the other attractions stand by lines more reasonable.

Yeah, I'm hoping for at least through the summer - maybe up to November or so.

Shame about the opening day medallion. A blunder on an otherwise great day.

I would’ve bought the Nintendo one. I was tempted for a few minutes before hearing they were gone.

I’m amazed they were letting people full on run when the portals opened (seen a few videos from Wizarding World).

Ran so fast to… stand around for hours waiting :p

Thinking in perspective about this reduced capacity for Epic. Basically, it's like a slow to moderate crowd day at Universal Parks in September. Thats about what they'd have at IOA or USF.

The way the media and influencers got that while the real fans are out of luck is just a bad look for universal. You know those influencers probably ended up listing those items on ebay

Judging by Bio's parking lot pictures, capacity has to be like 20% or less which would explain all the short waits and walk ons LOL

I’ve done every ride in the park except Ministry obviously. And then did all of Nintendo, Dark Universe, and Stardust twice. So 16 total rides in 5.5 hours. My minimum goal was two rides today. And I was stressing last night trying to get a game plan about what I wanted to do when. I couldn’t have imagined a better opening.

And I still have 8.5 hours to go.

Universal Orlando celebrated the opening of its new theme park, Epic Universe, with a ceremony at the Cosmos Fountain - featuring fireworks, drones, and an introduction by Steven Spielberg.

I am so jealous of anyone there today not cause of the opening day but just the amazing short lines ... makes me wonder if I make another splurge trip in June if I could even get remotely similar results, doubtful but man today looks absolutely amazing beyond jealous.

I'm hearing that capacity is capped at around 15K for all of June. May not actually be true but with how almost all of June has been 'sold out', it makes me think that it probably has been capped at a relatively low number as they'll want to continue to get good reviews on social media and not have the park be bashed for ridiculously high waits (with Ministry obviously being the outlier due to popularity and also unreliability)

The video of the opening ceremonies was impressive. A few things popped out to me:

- I didn't realize that what looked like the seating around the lagoon lit up and could display moving colors. Very impressive.
- For a brief moment there were fire effects. Do we know if that is part of a permanent installation or just for the special event. Cool of they built it to include in a show some day.
- The closing announcement is very reminiscent of other parks and makes me think it was recorded to play at the end of every evening's show.
- Love the lights on the Helios Hotel. I hope that's a permanent installation.

All in all, if they don't want to or can't do fireworks, I'd still like to see that show with everything else included on a regular basis.
