That’s amazing artwork!! Great work!!

I like the idea of the north lake zone looking like that, the whole image really gives visualising this a new dimension. Thanks for the awesome contribution!!!

Did it take long to put together?

Universal Creative has just listed a few job adverts for senior positions, based in Orlando but designated as an Expat job (i.e. working on projects based overseas). Like previous senior positions previously listed, these positions are not currently available but the submission of resumes from suitable candidates is being encouraged as part of an initial sourcing effort to identify the right people for the job. Universal Creative regularly recruits for Expat roles, but in most cases it will specify which country the project is located. However, for the positions which they are not actively recruiting no country is specified other than it is an Expat role. There has been speculation that these roles are for the as yet not formally announced theme park development in Bedford.

One of the new roles just listed by Universal Creative is for a Director for Estimating. According to the job specification from Universal Creative, this role will be responsible for generating initial budget estimates for all projects ranging from new Retail, Restaurants and Attractions, Resort Hotels to entirely new Theme Parks. Projects will range from $5-500 million for individual facilities, hotels, and attractions, and up to $1-2 billion for International Theme Park development [my emphasis]. Unless Universal are planning another international theme park that nobody has an inkling about, I'd say this role will include core planning for USGB.

Universal Creative has previously listed some of these Expat roles which aren't yet being actively recruited for. At the moment these positions include :
Director, Engineering & Safety (Show) (Expat)
Director, Engineering & Safety (Expat)
Director, Engineering & Safety (Ride Systems) (Expat)
Director, Engineering & Safety (Controls) (Expat)
Director, Engineering & Safety (Network Systems/Parkwide Systems) (Expat)
Sr. Director, Projects (Expat)
Senior Director, Projects – Civil/Infrastructure (Expat)

In addition to some of these being for UGB when It formally gets the green light, I wonder if some could also be for the USS version of SNW.

Possibly, although Universal Creative are currently specifying geographical location for their other Expat roles. This listing, for example, is for a Senior Projects Director (Expat to Singapore).

Over the past year that I've been following this, when Universal Creative advertise for Expat roles they typically specify which country the project will be based in. But in the last couple of months a small number of senior expat roles have been listed which don't specify the country, and which they state they are not yet available for active recruitment, simply collecting expressions of interest from possible candidates. Obviously I have no inside info, but because of the difference in how these Expat roles are listed I'm speculating it's for a major international project that they are getting ready to launch a recruitment effort for, in an Expat location that they currently don't want to confirm.

Luton airport, humourously called "London Luton Airport", is being allowed to double its capacity. This has been grumbling along for a while with planning permissions blocking its expansion. This is relevant to UGB for 2 reasons.
  1. Luton Airport has a dedicated train station between London and Bedford. It's served by 7 or 8 trains an hour that go between the two and take between 20 and 30 minutes to get to Bedford. A direct train going London St Pancras -> Luton Airport Parkway -> Wixams (UGB station) could probably do the journey in 15 minutes (edit: Luton Airport Parkway to Wixams (UGB) in 15 minutes).
  2. It's an indication that the government is favouring getting big infrastructure projects going despite planning concerns.

I’ve seen someone on a Facebook page called ‘We want universal studios in Bedfordshire’ say something interesting, it was posted by Gavin Vaughan.

Apparently universal has changed some of the wording on this website yesterday under the Section 1 ‘What is the project’.

He said apparently it used to say

‘It will still be some time before any decisions are made whether or not to proceed with the project, however we want to share our proposal with local communities”.

He said this has now been deleted and after checking it seems like it has and it’s been reworded to say ‘Last year, Universal confirmed the purchase of an approximately 476-acre (192-hectare) parcel of land south of Bedford with the goal of exploring a potential new park and resort experience at this site.’

‘We have spent the last several months undertaking feasibility and due diligence work and discussing the project with our surrounding communities, local and national stakeholders.’

Can anyone check this is correct, it seems to be correct to me as they used to mention stakeholders etc.

They seem to have removed the bit about it being some time before a decision is made.

FT has been briefed by people close to the negotiation between Universal and the government. Sounds like final details are being agreed. All good news.

From a PR point of view I can see the government being desperate for some good news to share, whilst Universal will want to time it right against the wave of excitement about Epic opening.

It's sounding positive though! I'll keep those fingers and toes crossed.

The guy who posted it said it’d be before that time when PMQs was supposed to take place, so let’s keep an eye out and hope he’s right :lmao:

I honestly cant see anything coming up until WC 28th April after Easter, UK GOV may want to announce sooner rather than later. But from a PR & Marketing point of view, all resources will be on Epic Universe with 3 weeks to go.
I suspect the very large marquee they're building in EU is for VIP and Mixed Zone/ Broadcast area.

This is just my opinion from experience in Marketing and Major event PR, but maybe they will invite some UK delegates over to Orlando and whilst they have the eyes of the world on them, make an announcement then. That is what I would do. like an Apple "oh just one more thing"

That makes sense to me. And if the UK government did want to make a bit of a good news story for the economy I'm not sure that making an announcement during a parliamentary recess is the smartest of moves. Many the political journalists will have planned to be away for family holidays as the scale of political announcements always tapers down during recess.

But an announcement that they’re going ahead and submitting planning applications whilst exciting isn’t necessarily a green light

A green light and the big PR thing would surely be shovels in the ground.
