That’s my point.

Spit Fyre is more than the most expensive quick service I go to at WDW, so it had better be worth it.

13.49 vs 16.99 for a chicken bowl. And people complain Disney World dining is too expensive.

How else can Universal afford all the ancient grains?

And the Satuli chicken bowl doesn’t come with ancient grains.

I noticed the bowl I want at Spit Fyre Grill is more expensive than the highest priced bowl at Satuli Canteen, and it gave me pause. I consider Satuli a high quality quick service, with good serving sizes, but even their food doesn’t reach $20 a bowl.

So, it better be good :nervous:

Still better than Cedar Flags pricing...

I'll admit that I'm not getting sticker shock from these prices since they're fairly consistent with what you'd pay for your average quick service meal in a SoCal park... but I'm also not surprised a bulk of these dishes are priced higher than burgers, personal pizzas, or chicken tenders. They're more complex dishes with a larger number of ingredients. If the quality is poor, I'm all for harping on the prices, but I've seen nothing to indicate the culinary teams won't deliver here.

Yes I’m okay paying for them, because they seem like good food. Just surprised by some prices is all.

Hard to tell, but looks like the Spit Fyre bowls are pictured in a boat-shaped bowl in the photos??

SoCal food prices are insane compared to other parts of the country, most places I ate when there a couple of summers ago were close to double what you’d find for the same thing in Kansas. I can see why you wouldn’t get sticker shock from the prices being from there, For a lot of people though they are much higher than what they are used to seeing, and in comparison are higher overall than what I saw in wdw and even universals other two parks last year.

I do think pointing out the high level of theming of the food can count for the price difference, and I’ll have to keep reminding myself of that when there to counteract the initial, yikes this is really steep reaction.

Me reading all of this talk about QSR pricing when I have no idea how much a theme park hamburger costs these days because I always order a kids meal for my grown self o_O

I haven’t eaten everything at Epic but what I have eaten is the best quick service food I’ve ever had. These aren’t the “cheeseburger, chicken finger, Caesar salad” menus of your parents’ theme parks. These are actual good tasting, well cooked, and well portioned dishes, some of which are themed to the lands in which they are served. Every time I go I’m just as excited by the prospect of finding a new dish to try as I am excited to experience the attractions. I fully expect the park will win awards for what they’re doing on the foods front.

My issue isn't the pricing nor the offerings, just interested in how the public reacts to these more 'elevated' offerings compared to what their used to when visiting parks (tenders, dry burgers, hot dogs, etc.)

As a local, I'm excited to head to Epic for dinner once APs come online, but I'm very interested in seeing if they change options sooner than later.

Like @Alicia mentioned regarding HTTYD bowls, it better be worth paying the extra $4 for a steak bowl compared to Satu'li Canteen.

Brian G. said:
I'm not saying it's either or, just, and again, I've said this before, it's hard to get a fair comparison because there's a lot of missing context and nuance with the data - so I'm just trying to apply it myself to get a better understanding, especially with a different MO for the parks. For example, Epcot has 20 sit-down restaurants. Epic will have 2. Disney wants you to eat at a sit-down, instead of QS, where it seems Epic is trying to elevate the QS offerings.

The math technically maths, but it doesn't present the whole picture.

I probably should have provided more context before, but I was simply trying to just summarize the data so people can see how it compares to to the other parks in offerings and price.

Yeah, honestly I've never had "quick service dinner" before - but EU will probably be the first place I do it.

I hope to try as many things as possible before the less popular items get removed. Watch it be something I really enjoy too! :sob:

So far Minion Cafe hasn’t changed much, and they offer very unique dishes there. They dropped a cream puff dessert, but I think it just didn’t sell very well with so many other good desserts. The fact they still have salmon, ramen, and other non burger and chicken tender meals there and do so well is promising for Epic.

I somehow missed the Satuli chicken bowl and thought it only had a combo, silly Joe.

I have a feeling that Das Hamburger and Der Hotdog and Les Chicken Tendres will all be added to menus over time when people complain there's nothing the kids will eat.

Unless I'm wrong, the Potter QSRs are the ones that will probably be impacted the most. Looking at Disney's offerings at Les Halles, it's all simple ham & cheese or chicken sandwiches. I could see some of the more popular dishes stay while others replaced with simpler offerings.

Will be interesting to see.

Saw a Tiktok on Themeparx with some views of the park from inside Helios (which I shan't repost here of course). Just a head's up to the mods, think you can pre-empt a lot of the inevitable kvetching about concrete and trees by redirecting our fine forum-goers to these two pictures of Epcot circa 1983 and 2011:

Yes, trees will grow in. However, the Mexico Pyramid is significantly smaller than Grand Helios.

Right, but the trees will grow in Monsters and should block certain angles when they get tall enough.
