Has there been a house based solely on a video game before or is it only when there's a tv show or movie that it's considered? Borderlands would've been awesome had the movie not been so bad, there's a lot of potential there.

It's rather old now but I wish they'd done a BioShock house (first 2 games) when they were still fresh. Rapture is a great setting that would've done well as a house.

They have not. While Resident Evil (with its infamous “Pause” room) and TLOU were based on the video games, they were only created after those properties were expanded to other mediums. A big reason for that is that Universal management still needs to approve licensed IPs and multimedia IPs are far more attractive (due to broader accessibility).

And Saws and Steam: Into the Machine was ostensibly Rapture, complete with “Big Daddy.”

Yeah, I was lucky to be there and experience it! I remember leaving that house and wishing they did BioShock due to the similarities. I'll cross my fingers that someday it'll get taken up for a good show or movie someday and it can get a proper house.

I have hope we'll see it when the Netflix movie finally happens.

I'm just patiently waiting for the Dead by Daylight movie from blumhouse so that we can finally have a dead by Daylight hhn scarezone or house lol, ( can't have it at the event without the movie)

if there was ever a game property that would perfectly fit horror nights, it would be that one. specially a scarezone. it would be really perfect.

it's also the case with the spawn comic, if blumhouse does the movie, depending on how horror it turned out, I would liked for universal to do a spawn house from it as well, I know that spawn is more of an action thing, but there's a lot of horror in it. it could work.

Bioshock my favorite game of all time. If the shows a hit (and actually happens unlike the movie) there’s a great chance I think. Never knew about Saws and Steam until now and wish I started my HHN trips earlier.

It’s obvious this isn’t going to happen, but imagine if just for this year or next year we got “HHN 34: Universe of Terror” like Islands of Fear in 2002 when IOA opened. I wonder what they would come up with?

The problem with that is that there isn't any space for HHN at Epic Universe. Unlike IoA, the park isn't right next to USF, so they wouldn't have any soundstage houses. I'm not even sure where they would put the tents at. I guess they could use the expansion plots while they're still empty. Maybe for HHN 40 they can use all 3 parks for hhn. Have like 2 or 3 houses at Epic, 3-4 at IoA, and 12-15 at USF. Make it a mega celebration. That would be fun. Chaotic but fun. They can sorta do it like Universal Beijing is doing it now, 2 houses and just a bunch of Halloween decorations have it be more family friendly.

I don't think they meant doing it at Epic Universe. They were referring to having a twisted "nightmare" version of the Studios park (aka "SLASHER Studios" or something)

IOA didn't rely on tents or soundstages the first two years (2002/2003). They had houses in Popeye queue, Thunderfalls Terrace, Jurassic Discovery Center, former Triceratops Encounter, etc.

They built the Carnage warehouse behind DOOM specifically for HHN though. SS20 was used for Screamhouse. Back when HHN had 5-6 houses

Whole I agree that would be fun, I would absolutely hate to see the price of that event. I’m not even sure how optics would work with staffing at all three locations. Plus, 17 houses (which is the low end of your proposal) would feel like way too many. We’ll see how 11 or 12 go this year (if that rumor is true). But I feel like it would be one of those situations where quality would fall to try to meet that much demand.

In my opinion at least, there have been at least 2 the past few years that weren’t quality in my opinion. I would wonder what the quality would look like at 17. 22 (The high end of your proposal) would need at least 3-4 night to hit each house once. Express would be extremely expensive too.

But all of that to say, I do agree it would be a lot of fun. Maybe make each park its own little mini theme with an overarching theme to tie them all together.

I'll be first to say this is probably more wish list, but the Mardi Gras Tribute Store this year, in every single aspect, very much feels like a house, I'd love to see it become reality.

the red coconut club also kinda looks like a horror version of Mardi gras this year. specially the second floor. I was there today

I think depending on how things work out with 12 houses it could work out. Also let's remember, this idea wouldn't be till hhn 40 which is in 6 years lol. That's a long time from now. As for the ticket prices, they can have different packages. A single night just for HHN at USF, a single night that includes both USF+IoA, charge half price for the Epic Universe portion or make it a part of the regular day tickets like Japan and Beijing. It's possible. Anyway I don't want to keep going off topic apologies. Hopefully we get another spec map soon, hhn 2025 spec is running a little dry rn

Uni could create something Epic-specific but I think when it comes to haunts it's cemented well into the general public's mind that HHN at USF is the place to be. Outside of Dark Universe there isn't a blank canvas to take advantage of as much as you get with Studios right now.

Pretty sure it's also been pointed out that staffing for HHN comes from day shift workers, so it's something else to keep in mind when thinking about expanding the event across multiple parks and how viable that actually is for everyone involved. If they follow through with 12 houses this year we'll get a good indication of quality moving forward.

I'll toss my vote in for a lagoon show too. If we can't have a second stage show (parody or not) then give us something to get distracted by at the waterfront. It seems kind of a waste the new hardware for CineSational is only used for a portion of the year because of Mardi Gras and HHN.

HHN 40: Epic Haunts. 40 houses. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this plan.

TIL. I'll keep my eyes out for that. If the house ever gets made my dream would be for it to be a dual house like Dueling Dragons was. The choice would be whether you choose to harvest the Little Sisters or rescue them and get different endings for each.

I hope it's a success!

After just reading the plot synopsis to M3GAN 2.0, I absolutely think there would be plenty in there to make a house out of. Especially if they did a mashup of both films.

I know it’s riskier because of actors have to be a bit smaller and safety is definitely a factor, but I feel like if they could make Chucky work, they can make M3GAN work.

I know it’s probably a long shot, but I think it would be a very fun house.

I don't think a M3GAN house is a very long shot :)

I'm still thinking a M3GAN + The Black Phone 2 combination is the most likely scenario. They're the two largest Blumhouse properties that are distributed by Universal, and I'm sure there is a desire to promote them.

I think even if there's no house, they will absolutely be present, even if it's just a photo op with The Grabber and M3GAN.

Yeah I would bet money that we'll see M3GAN at the event, likely in the form of a house. (probably in F&F)

From the GP's perspective, M3GAN was the icon last year (sadly). Every post, outside the fandom, had photos of M3GAN. Nobody knew who were the true 'icons' of last year lol

I'm thinking we'll see our next spec map next week on Valentine's. Got a gut feeling HNN will be sticking with the theme of holidays this year.
