Tsumugimu on Twitter is mourning the loss of the original JP queue video, which features a random white guy giving safety instructions in Japanese and has been shown in the queue since opening day. Apparently the original queue video is being replaced with a new one when the ride reopens.

Someone should find this guy and get a "where are they now?" interview.

(Sorry to everyone reading this who thought this post would be an actual update)

Have we heard anything about this recently? I'm planning on going in late February and I dont know if I should expect this to be open or not.

Nope. It’s been testing for months now. No opening date or timeline beyond “early 2025”.

JP soft opened today.

I checked around Twitter but couldn’t find any solid reports on changes beyond that there’s a new queue video (which we knew already) and that the BGM on the lift hill and drop was apparently changed.

Tsumugimu rode and said that “some things are better and some things are worse.” A follower asked what had changed and he replied that “it’s things only a superfan would notice.”

Well...sucks it was done so long that only super fans can notice the difference....was hoping they would upgrade some of the Dino's

I would actually count the ability to perceive a difference in the fluidity of a specific animatronic dinosaur's motion as "something only a superfan would notice". Maybe not a super-super fan level observation, but definitely an observation within the superfan spectrum.

The new queue video, including a before and after comparison. RIP random white guy speaking Japanese.

I guess they're enforcing no recording during softs? Still can't find any on-ride vids from today.

USJ is pretty hardcore against filming, most on-ride videos from there come from sneakiness

Wait....but I saw a tonnnnn of videos from SNW rides

Are the Nintendo rides allowed to be filmed? Because the people int he Yoshi ride did not look like they were being sneaky

You mostly aren't allowed to film on-ride at all at USJ, but some people have a secret superpower called a "lack of shame".

First POV. Taken during softs.

To my untrained eye, I really can't say I notice anything different at all aside from new paint. A commentator gave a list of things they noticed though:

1. The JP gate opening was retimed, it now opens right as the VO says "Welcome... to Jurassic Park"
2. The JP theme that plays after the gate opens now abruptly ends shortly after it starts. It used to play out longer.
3. The Ultrasaurus tail now moves
4. The rocks at the far end of the fake turn now spout water
5. Lift hill music was changed (apparently the original lift hill music was from The Mummy. Is that the case in the U.S. too?)
6. There is no longer an alarm sound right before the drop
7. The drop doesn't have as a big of a splash. (Maybe because it's winter?)

Tsumugimu is out with a 30 min video on JP 2.0 including an exhaustive list of changes.

It would take me a while to go through and fully translate all of this, but the list of changes generally lines up with what was reported in the YouTube comment I posted earlier. The vast majority of the changes are lighting and audio upgrades, including audio retimings.

One interesting change noted is that the video of the JP cast member that plays inside the lift hill building was changed to a new vid with a Japanese cast member (and the audio is apparently much quieter than before).

I rode this ride for the first time yesterday and my god, it's put Florida's version to shame. Actual working animatronics and effects? I couldn't believe it. I was also shocked by how wet you get on this ride I was completely soaked afterwards. I've been on JW at USH and JPRA at USF multiple times throughout the years and have never gotten that wet on either of those rides lol

When the time comes to address IOAs JPRA, this is the approach they should go with. You don't need to retheme it to future iteration of JW as the original is the most timeless.
