I have no idea if the 20-year contract rumor is accurate (though it sounds fairly likely based on what I do know), but 2028-ish, plus or minus a year, sounds about right. I suppose things could change if the ride system finally fails before then.

I'm probably in the extreme minority here but I never hated this ride and wouldn't be upset if whatever replaces the Simpsons uses an upgrade version of the same ride system.

I'd love an announcement that it's closing sometime in 2025, but it sure sounds like it's going to be much later.

I don't think it's bad, it's just really old, and it's sitting on a piece of land that is one of the easier plots in USF to totally redevelop (which the park desperately needs).

I'm in the camp that is excited for Pokemon, but I'm good with Springfield sticking around for a little while longer.

I think people THINK they're ready for it to go.. but they'll miss it when it's gone. :lmao:

I’ve never had a problem with motion sickness so as a Simpsons fan I do enjoy the ride. I won’t necessarily miss it when it’s gone but you know don’t touch Duff Gardens and we’ll be cool.

Simpsons Ride will also be bittersweet to say goodbye to when the time comes. If it weren't for the terrible state of the ride system, I'd actually still really enjoy going on it.

I'm hoping the HRRR replacement build time is going to be Transformers type situation where it goes up in a little over a year. Then you can take Simpsons offline at some point in 2026 and have Pokemon ready by 2028.

It's now clear Universal sees USF as a priority post EU and seems to be working diligently to ensure new experiences are ready in a decent amount of time.

a timely reminder that "begging the question" is assuming theories are facts, not something that leads to a question. there's informed speculation and then there's speculation set atop an unproven foundation.

I think something I’ll miss with the Simpsons when it goes (on both coasts) is that it’ll be the one and only land/ride we ever got with the original voice cast (minus Shearer, obviously). Assuming Disney ultimately wants to do something with the IP at their parks, by the time they do, it could potentially be a decade from now at the rate they move, and by then it wouldn’t surprise me to have seen people like Kavner and Shearer follow Pamela Hayden into retirement from the show, especially since they’ve both been sounding much different for years already and the former would potentially be in her 80s and the latter in his 90s by the time Disney decides to move dirt.

Obviously recasts have happened in the show’s run, but we’re inching towards the day where Disney will have to replace one of the core cast members entirely, either due to death or retirement, if the show is to keep on going, and if they plan on building a ride/land beyond that of their own, it’ll have to incorporate those replacements (or, I shudder to think, AI). So for that long-winded explanation, I’m happy to cherish Simpsons while we’ve got it, with the cast captured in their prime, before it’s gone, because no matter what Disney does, it’ll never have that specific magic to it.

This is not clear at all.

Would be great if true, though.

I also wonder if its possible if someone on the key cast of Simpsons retires or passes away, the show will end.

Not to be morbid, but the main cast each still makes like a half a million dollars per episode. In the long run, if even one of them were to retire or pass away tomorrow, their replacement would obviously not make nearly as much, thus making the show cheaper to keep in production. The question of whether the show would end if one of them goes has been asked for decades now, and honestly, if it’s just gonna make it more affordable to produce with each one that leaves, I can easily see Disney just continue to keep it going for years to come since they wouldn’t be shelling millions out per episode anymore just to keep the original cast around.

I'll miss the theming, and music

The ride....is fine as a movie but the system for me has always sucked. I'm excited to see what they can do

Heck Buzz Cola is my favorite in park drink but....like its not worth having the land for these little things when I'd love to see a ride not based on a 1980s system

Last time I rode I couldn’t hear the ride audio over the building saying “kill me” over and over.

I remember fearing it was going to collapse when walking between the theaters to head to the break area when I worked there over TWENTY YEARS AGO.

You gotta hand it to that foundation. It’s a work horse that’s for sure.

The Simpsons ride system is pretty indefensible in my eyes: poorly laid out queue, requires too much staffing, poor quality video projections, creeky ride system, the tallest building in the park, etc. Even if they keep the idea of a projection dome simulator they could rebuild a better ride system for cheaper (I hope not).

So I was also slicing and dicing the touring plans guest rating data for 2024 and the FFB restaurants have slid down the rankings for the park into the bottom 50%. This whole area needs help.

The food quality has dropped over the years. Which is unfortunate for one of the more unique offerings for quick service at the resort.
