Bad news meaning Supercharged will operate seasonally through 2030 and beyond? :D In theory this makes sense for capacity reasons since the new coaster won't add any capacity to the park and they'll need to take Simpsons offline shortly after that but I was hoping they could turn around a quick retheme or enhancement to make it less embarrassing during the off-season or something.

A simple retheme won't save it. They should never have copied the ride system from Skull Island in the first place.

Keep the attraction open until Universal can start from scratch on that plot and do something worthy.

The bigger problem with F&F has always been the ride system (although the ride film isn't doing it any favors). Making a new film would be much more costly than people realize, and would likely necessitate the ride stick around even longer to justify the investment.

Let me guess, Supercharged will coexist with the coaster. At the very least most diehard fans would know about the coaster and skip it (Supercharged) anyways.

Woof at this thread. :lmao: I guess USF should just double down on being the "festival" park like Epcot until it's time for its own eventual epic transformation. You guys hit it on the head earlier. It's not that they didn't invest in this park. It's that the additions didn't age well. But that's to be expected when they were nearly all screen-based. Here's hoping it gets some love soon.

While Pokemon is a ways down the road with its 2030 debut, It sounds like it will be quite ambitious with the amount of resources going into it and might make the wait worth it in the end. And who knows. Maybe after thats completed, Universal will turn around and redevelop the FFL stage and MIB into another new land.

Are you kidding, the ride will never end for us. We forsook our lord & savior Gasolina for a cheap imitation.

I would be fine if they closed the Simpsons ride yesterday to level the building and start for something different and new but they can keep the spinner, bar and food court until the license stops because that is the making universal a ton of money and is what makes the area feel nice.

So the big takeaway is Studio parks have a high rate of turnover due to their designed nature of focusing on the latest fads and properties. Wow such original criticism, can’t wait for the screens thread to be revived.

...Is that the takeaway? Bourne is hardly a "fad property", and neither are the Minions, F&F, Pokemon, Simpsons, the Dreamworks properties they chose for DWL, Transformers, E.T., Potter. You could argue Fallon is a little time-locked, but while it's been brought up negatively a few times here, I think it's generally considered just mediocre. MiB and The Mummy are honestly the most 2000s-y of the IP we've got in the park still, and those are some of the most beloved rides we have at USF. HRRR is based off of the constantly changing world of Pop Music, yet has largely kept the track-list the same since the late 2000s, and is still just as popular with guests as anything else.

I really don't see "high turnover" being an issue that people are bringing up here. I could see the argument from a larger, historical perspective; Nicktoons, Twister, Disaster, Fievel, Barney. Lots of IP that just fell out of style or didn't hold like some others. But that's really not the case anymore, in my opinion. And if anything, I think most people here don't think the turnover rate is high enough. People are asking for more change, and more expansion, and sooner.

People want evergreen IP like Simpsons, Transformers, F&F to go not because the IP aren't relevant anymore, but because the attractions attached to them are not holding up the park like they need to. I honestly don't get this post, and I respectfully feel like the goal is mostly to be snarky for it's own sake rather than actually adding to the discussion we're actually having.

I think this park the most needs to invest in entertainment, as that is a way to keep the crowds. The parade looks okay, but I may not be a parade person. Cinesational looks amazing, that should stay all year long. Eventually incorporate holiday overlays.

Bourne is best addition since Diagon Alley for sure. A Ghostbusters show of same quality would be amazing for the NY area. Up the street atmosphere around the parks too like they were pre Covid.

Put something, anything, in FFL that is a decent show. There’s a million directions they can go. Those 3 shows being must do’s will keep guests in the park longer, and later with Cinesationsl.

New coaster being VC levels sounds great. I’d like a dark ride in Dreamworks as well.

Ultimately? It sounds like Pokémon may be fixing all the problems we see with the park. I’d be floored if there isn’t a dark ride, I’d be floored if there isn’t a highly themed more family friendly coaster, I’d be shocked if there isn’t flat rides, I’d be shocked if there isn’t AA’s everywhere like SNW, I bet they can do a Pokémon stadium show as well.

Just throwing ideas out there, but when you think of what Pokémon will be with what’s rumored, this single addition should help the park lineup immensely.

I would actually love another highly themed or immersive show experience in this park. I think if Rockit gets removed and the station moves like people have said, it opens up the old BMG theater to be roped into park boundaries. Ghostbusters would be my preferred choice but I also think that plus something smaller in FFL would be nice. Wishful thinking on my part probably.

IMO, Pokemon will probably contain two dark rides. You could have a Pokemon Snap type D ticket and then an E ticket battle arena ride or something like that where you go up against Team Rocket and their leader Giovanni.

Perhaps another Illumination IP or proper DM dark ride could happen if they were able to get the BMG theater park for USF park usage.

Old news but surprised this has yet to be posted:

The Simpsons Ride brings the gleefully chaotic world of the long-running animated series to life before guests’ eyes. The show’s voice cast reprised their iconic roles in the attraction, including Julie Kavner, the voice of Marge Simpson, who we got to speak with about the ride’s anniversary.

“It’s very cool that the ride has already been around for 15 years,” Kavner told us. “I’m glad fans enjoy stepping into Springfield.”

For park guests, riding the attraction is a very different experience from watching “The Simpsons” at home. The voice actors’ process, though, remained the same.

“There was no difference recording for the ride than for an episode of the show,” Kavner said. “We all recorded episodes together in one room, and we did the ride script the same way.” (Note: Post-Covid, the actors record individually).

Their communal technique is evident in the characters’ frenetic chemistry throughout the ride. As the ride’s narrative depicts the ultimate “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” trope of many theme park attractions, everyone’s favorite animated family is woefully in the middle of the mayhem.

Seeing as The Simpsons Ride takes place in the fictional Krustyland, we asked Kavner what Marge’s ideal day in a theme park might look like.

“Marge would want to make sure the kids had a good time, Bart didn’t destroy anything, and there was something for Maggie to enjoy,” she said. Sadly, the family’s day in Krustyland is just about the opposite of all of those things.

It's tragically funny how Marge's entire existence is to just be a mother.

First of all, Nicktoons was never an "outdated" property. Alot still stream them on Paramount Plus. Rocko made way for SpongeBob, who is still the most popular cartoon of all time. You'd be surprised how many kids these days know old Nicktoons.

Jimmy Neutron was the featured character of the attraction though, and he absolutely did become outdated in appearance and awareness in pop culture.

Oh, you mean Jimmy?? The memes are still relevant (virtually anything to do with Carl), and it's still more in-dated than Hanna-Barbera (then again, Boomerang is showing the classics after all this time.)

Memes are not an indicator of relevancy.
