I’ll put it all on black that TCM when replaced is going to end up being Chucky.

This really is a solid lineup of houses so that is good. Glad that no hurricane can mess up this corn now in Scarecrow, haha.

I’m curious to see how they will run four houses continuously if they are supposed to be switched out over time. I’m guessing there’s additional space that the design team can build in?

Catching up on the news, this is a dream and being able to revisit Scarecrow alone may get me out there. Looking for more details on the bars and other activities but having a year-round, highly-themed Halloween party is just incredible.

That said, regarding the IPs... I think there's a legitimate concern that these aren't strong year-round draws.

This isn't a knock on quality of either the houses (they all have a proven track record) or even knock on the quality/popularity of the IPs themselves (Texas Chain Saw is a Letterboxd Top 4 for me and it's obviously still just as relevant 50 years later). But these are already secondary IPs at Horror Nights proper, safe seasonal IPs they had easy access to. But they aren't the ones that move merch and they were not the main selling points of the years that featured them. Which, for September/October is totally fine, but are people going to make time to go through an Exorcist: Believer house in May when they could be going to a hockey game or concert, or even just gamble?

But like others said, they're competing with other attractions on the strip. I think it's less about TCM vs Halloween, and more that you really needed something with broader appeal, like a Stranger Things-level mega-IP. Something that you hear about year round. Trust me, I know these are basically white whales and a deal like that is easier said than done logistics and investment-wise.

100% would love to be wrong if it means having a permanent HHN I could visit whenever I get the itch. But I am nervous that, considering the majority of people only think about horror during Halloween, this isn't a lineup that will convince a broader audience to expand beyond seasonal interest.

making a house based on a flop is definitely risky. and the last Texas chainsaw massacre movie on Netflix was very badly received, but at the same time they need famous ips anyway. recognizable properties.
and like the waterworld example, this house could become its own beloved thing.
maybe having Halloween and Texas chainsaw at the same time it was too much.

I'm actually surprised that they didn't make a jack or icons house. from the art work I expected them to use jack ( but I'm sure he can be used around the outside

I'm going to go out on a limb here with a bit of a negative outlook - which isn't typically like me..

If this doesn't result in a steady increase of HHN guests over the next few years, I don't see it lasting much longer than a few years

I am thinking this will be a pay per house experience with a package deal thrown in. SO you can still have 3 operating and not have it affect anyone's pockets or experience. Bottom line, it wont be like paying one price for a park and 3 coasters are down vs paying per attraction.

I don't think the entire success of this experience should only be judged by how many people are convinced to visit HHN entirely.

The one thing that can hurt this long-term is how long they can keep the quality of the houses up.

Oh, if it's profitable by itself then they'll absolutely keep it open. I just can't imagine it being too profitable without the benefit of new HHN guests.

I can't imagine what expenses will be like for this.

According to him, it did not do well as a year round experience and only lasted about a year.

Per an article I just googled, it seems there was complaints about high prices and poor service.

This is part of where I’m most curious about this long term. Like, I imagine it’ll be staffed to the brim at opening, but if it December or February or April rolls around, people aren’t necessarily flocking to it due to horror being out of season, and it becomes purposely understaffed as a result, I worry it’ll just create a feedback loop.

This is the kind of thing, I feel, that can live or die on how social media treats it—and if you’ve got people going the majority of the year only to find it’s not scary because houses are understaffed, others might not be influenced to go, which rolls over into whether it’s worth it or not to maintain the houses themselves for budgetary reasons. Turning off a smell here or a special effect there to cut further costs then adds up, one after another.

I want this to succeed so bad, which is why I wanna go see it as close to opening as possible, but I’m definitely keeping my expectations in check for the long run when all it could take is something as simple as pricing it too high to suddenly make it unsustainable.

*poor house ops

Hey look. We've got the HHN Hollywood experience! Woo!

I'm willing to scare daily, but just working haunt season alone takes a toll on the body/health. So staffing this with scareactors should be interesting since the former haunt attractions (Mummy, Van Helsing, HoH, TWD) at USH would suffer from being understaffed

I can't imagine living in the desert heat that is Vegas. If the opportunity to scare at this thing passes my way, I'll seriously consider it.

But ugh.. bugs. And.. the sand

Never actually been to Vegas (yeah, people that know me find it really weird) but pretty familiar with Orlando. At least half a dozen year-round haunts have come and gone. Skull Kingdom probably lasted the longest, but it had a lot going on beside the haunt, The only one left is Mortem Manor, which in the off-season employs two, maybe three, actors, in a low-rent tourist district.

It's not a perfect analogy--the Rat dominates Orlando in a way no single company dominates Vegas, a lot more kids here (but also a lot more teens)--but I'm not sure a theme park board primarily devoted to HHN is the best place to gauge interest in a 365 haunt nowhere near a theme park.

not super common in NV, Most likely issue will be summer monsoon storms. That building should do fine, but monsoon can do some weird things.

Which is why I think they may use more puppets and animatronics than actual scareactors.
