A purpose built theater rather than a makeshift one in a soundstage will be much better for Blue Man. Also being located in the heart of I-Drive may lead to way more day-of ticket buys than at Universal where quite frankly they struggled to sell tickets.

Also not locked behind the citywalk parking garage access and they can do matinees. This new theater is about half the size of the Sharp Aquos Theater and hopefully they design it to be a more intimate experience.

Still have them in NYC, Chicago, and Boston!

Update: permitting issues caused delays, and BMG will now open in May. It would not surprise me if it gets pushed out even more.

Yeah, not even a foundation yet— good luck with a May deadline—

Such a weird space for a theater. Looks like it only has space for 50 seats a night.

I belive it'll be about 500 guest theater, the layout is up on the site. BMG can do small shows, I bet the theater size isn't too different than Chicago.

Opening show is currently slated for May 6th… unless that’s going to be an Absinthe-style tent, there’s no chance that’s happening.

First showing is now May 29th with "opening soon" on the marketing. Word on the street is permitting is fast tracked for Epic and Disney with this project getting delayed waiting for approvals. I expect it to slide back again, though I don't think that's a bad thing.

Anyway, I compared the space's size and found it's only slightly smaller (0.30 acres) than the old UOR theater space (0.37 acres). It's even larger than the old Briar Street Theater in Chicago (0.21 acres) and Astor Place in NYC (0.04 acres lol oh NYC).

It's well past May, and this is what the site looks like...

Me thinks there's been a roadblock or two with this project, unfortunately.

Trying to squeeze a theater into that space is wild... I thought it was going to take over some of the parking lot.

I did some math and it turns out that space is bigger than their NYC, Chicago, and Boston theaters.
