The wider theme park visiting public would not be up in arms over this trade.

What would be the most realistic option for a muppet dark ride? Something like ride and go seek? I’d like an omnimover but idk if that’d draw.

I just don’t think attractions like Muppet Vision attract enough guests for them to serve as a release valve. I hear you, and think the solution at DHS is to create more areas that are pleasant to spend time in because right now it’s the ugliest park at the resort and offers the grimmest vibes.

But Star Tours, Mickey and Minnie, Smugglers Run and (to a degree) Midway Mania all offer D-Ticket and lower experiences that help mitigate big draws like Tower of Terror, Rise, Rock n Roller Coaster and (in the future) Monsters.

but...those attractions, except ST, have waits as high as the E attractions. DHS is so short of capacity that losing even one attraction, that is generally busy, is bad. Touring Plans does a weekly average of the Disney park's 'actual' stand by waits. And DHS is almost always one third higher than the other three parks.

Is Muppets generally busy? Maybe we have different definitions of busy.

I've never visited the parks during the busy season. I always go during slow/moderate seasons. I can't recall a time I attended Muppets that it didn't have a fairly sizeable crowd. DHS is very limited since lines there are so long. The alternatives, shows, all do pretty well.

It's kind of ironic, you have these D-tickets or C-tickets that you build to alleviate capacity issues, but then they get underutilized because they're D or C-tickets that aren't perceived as the checkpoints you need to pass to make your vacation "worth it". When the masses spend every moment hyper-optimizing their vacation, they no longer get distributed in a healthy manner across the park.

When do you think we find out? The longer this goes on, the worse it’s going to get.

So what’s the status currently? From what I’ve seen in multiple places and gathered: it’s currently: the plan is muppets but animation courtyard is being looked at.

But then there's the other piece of concept art that looks like you can see the Muppet section of Grand Avenue in the background. Notice the water tower on top of the building. Harryhausen's could arguable even be in the space of Mama Melrose's in this image.

I think what's going on is they created multiple pieces of concept art of the MI Land in multiple different spots in the part. They just have yet to decide exactly where it will go.

Please use the edit feature (or +quote feature) instead of posting back to back to back. It just fills up space in the thread and unless it's newsworthy, it's actually against forum rules. Replying to yourself 40 minutes after you posted asking for an update on this at 9:30pm est is not going is not going to get you an answer.

I understand people love MuppetVision and don't want to see it go, but posting over and over isn't going to get you an answer faster. Disney will give us one when they give us one. Personally, i'd recommend making sure Disney knows your concerns by letting them know on twitter or something like that if it's true they haven't decided.

Correct, the solution to long lines at popular rides isn’t to keep poorly utilized rides with short waits. And if you don’t replace the poorly utilized rides along the way and instead always build new, you end up with even worse utilization on those rides.

I think the online community needs to come to grips with the possibility that they’ve defined “turbocharging the parks” as 1) replacing underutilized capacity with demand drivers and 2) doing so in a way that leaves open the possibility for more expansion down the road. If something (frankly) small like a Monsters land goes into AC, it gets harder to ever access the land behind it for something big.

Also hard to ignore that we’re right back to the issue that Studios never should have been built on that plot of land to begin with if it was eventually going to become what it is today.

Is there a reason that we’ve all collectively agreed that if Muppets gets replaced at Hollywood Studios that it wouldn’t just get relocated somewhere else? It’s not like the Muppets need to be tied to that specific section/park.

I fear if Muppet*Vision gets relocated, like to Magic Eye theater, it loses some effects, animatronics, or charm. Like ports of Philharmagic that do not include the aspect changing screen.

I know this would definitely cost a ton of money, but there is a decent amount of land on the other side of the street of world drive. If you built a bridge, had it in theme to whatever, you could theoretically gain expansion access to that plot, no?

I’m not talking about this for Monsters, just general expansion opportunities in the future, btw. The park would obviously have to lose the pyro area over there, but it’d be worth it, especially since the park has Fantasmic.

I feel like if they did decide to keep MuppetVision at MagicEye, obviously they could cheap out, but it also wouldn’t cost them that much to at the very least port over the AA’s and queue theming (and it would give a reason to do a refresh of the Magic eye theater in terms of new carpet, seats).

But we’ll see. At least it would still be around if it was at Magic Eye.

Losing the queue would stink, but I feel like a lot can be ported over if they don’t trash things. My fear is magic eye would get less people.

I must have been seeing a different show than everyone here because since SWGE I've had the most full shows of MuppetVision in decades, to the point I'm seeing the queue behind the building again.

I've anecdotally heard that Muppet*Vision has been performing well (both in terms of guest satisfaction and guest draw).

I kind of fundamentally disagree, and also kind of quibble with the very framing of "poorly-utilized rides."

A park cannot be all E-tickets with 90+ minute waits. There need to be quality offerings that don't require jumping through hoops to experience (or spending an hour in line, or paying an extra fee to skip the line).

It's kind of amazing that in a park with severe capacity issues and has abandoned buildings AND a vast parking lot that can be used for park expansions is considering the removal of an attraction in favor of something new. Unless they have bigger plans, I can't accept the removal of Muppets from a capacity-perspective.

According to the wdwmagic people (well trusted ones like the site owner), wdw may see adding lighting lane capacity in a spot where there was none before, outweighs it, and also that they may have future plans for animation courtyard (zootopia and the Simpsons(?) were what was named).
