THAT was so disorienting for a video, can't even imagine how it'll be in real life! Looks fun!

Is it bad that I'm not impressed by the layout? The rotating ride vehicles are cool, but it seems that's all this coaster has going for it.

Welcome to the Fast franchise. Isn't this coaster a first of its kind, if so, just think of it like X2 at SFMM... a prototype.

Also there's only so much they can do with a coaster on the side of a hill. Look at Full Throttle, Tatsu, & Ninja... all fun coasters, but limited with what was possible.

I will point out Kennywood, they have always use the hills to their advantage.

That is completely different entirely compared to this coaster & it's limited space. You're literally comparing a park that doesn't have the same restrictions as USH.

I'd be more grateful that the park was even able to build a "big" coaster like this considering their on-going challenges of the surrounding area (that chose to take up residence next to an active studio/theme park).

You invited the comparison to "other coasters built on the side of a hill." And Izzy wasn't complaining at all — just pointing out that other parks have used terrain to their advantage when building a coaster. I'd argue the coasters you already cited at Magic Mountain are also great examples.

I'll be curious to see what the coaster looks like if/when Universal drops an "official" animation.

Did you seriously say FF is a dying IP, whose last film made over $700m worldwide and is Universal's most lucrative franchise in the modern era, while suggesting BTTF and ET as alternates? Like seriously? I love all those films, but not only are they not on the same level of money-making as FF currently, but this type of coaster would be doing those properties a disservice. The same applies to Dragons.

A drift coaster utilizing the tricky terrain doesn't open up a lot of options, meaning there's only so much you can do; but fortunately, a FF coaster doesn't require much more than speed and thrills.

And what's the one thing fans of the franchise and haters of Supercharged have said?

You need to stop moving the goalposts and inserting personal opinions into sound business decisions.

So here we go first off, they could still include Fast and Furious to a great movie ride coaster.....so little is lost there the fans will still come for that. Plus you get classic fans with BTTF, a new twister is coming out, could also throw in an ET part fort classic film fans as well, Classic Monsters can be added and if they want to go animated HTTY Dragon fits perfectly

This allows you to bring more merch into the parks people want, we will see when F&F comes but I doubt it moves much merch and thats where the real money is made.

As for F&F Dying it is, never said it didn't make money but the movies make less now then they did 5 years ago. Fast X cost 340 million to make and made 714 Million, at least most people online I see say you need to make over double your budget to really make a profit.
So that's why it's dying, its not gaining more people watching it and the movies cost more now then ever to make.
Also Fast X was last year wayyyyyyyyy beyond the Pandemic so no excuses for that kinda performance

If people here think a F&F Coaster is more exciting then one with effects and multiple movie themes cool , I disagree and won't not speak my mind when we are on forums talking about theme parks. Cars and garages are boring themes to me, we literally have them at six flags down the street.
My issue with this coaster isn't the coaster, its a great use of the space its the theme they are using. But I'm excited to be here to see it being built so fast the team doing it are killing it and I'm excited to talk about the reception of the ride and it's affect on the park.
I'm pretty confident it won't move the needle much but if I'm wrong cool, I'll admit but unless magic happens I don't think this coaster will lead to much more profits or attendance spikes beyond the normal ones when you open a new ride.

I think a brand-new high-trill launch coaster replacing two aging stage shows is a massive W for USH. Even if the F&F franchise was dying, the coaster is still a game-changer for the park.

I don't even know what you're trying to argue here. Why does it have to lead to "much more" than what a new ride opening normally leads to?

It's also worth keeping in mind that Back to the Future, a franchise I love, made progressively less money as films were released. Back to the Future III, even adjusted for inflation, didn't even make a third of what Fast X brought in. Which is to say: these films still have immense mass appeal.

I haven't seen a Fast and the Furious movie since Tokyo Drift; it holds absolutely no appeal to me. But I'm not out here pretending like how I feel is a reflection of the people Universal hopes to sell theme park tickets to.

No one’s telling you you can’t speak your mind, but I think the issue everyone has is that when you do, you’re making the same exact point every single time. It’s been repeated ad nauseam at this point for the last several years over multiple threads, and I think anyone reading this who has been around would agree that we all know how you feel about F&F. We get it. But it’s coming. It is what it is. No amount of repeating the same “F&F is boring, and anyone who disagrees with me is wrong because Universal needs to be thinking about MERCH and I don’t understand how you all can be happy for it when we could have more Nintendo” line over and over and over is changing that.

That repetition is what’s so tiresome to people, because you take every opportunity to let everyone know how unhappy you are, which is fine, but also that everyone else is in the wrong for being okay that it’s specifically the F&F IP that’s coming, which isn’t when you just look at how important the IP is to Universal and/or the simple fact other people are indeed allowed to like the IP. Like, at a point, you just have to let it go and move on, not just for all our sakes, but yours, too.

Someone posted a video of the coaster we could have had....it's brand new to me

I literally was responding to seeing this Great Movie ride coaster and like why the hell didn't they do this?

Its more sound to make a ride of a brand that is not gaining more fans and has limited merch available? How is that a sound business decision?

For decades USH has needed a genuine "Icon" attraction that can be noticeable for it's thrills and spectacle. Like Velocicoaster and Hulk at IOA, or Hollywood Dream and TFD at Osaka; having a key attraction like those makes so much sense for Universal to have as they can.

While I like with a few others do wish it was with a more "Evergreen" IP; like Back To The Future--Fast & Furious's lucrative high speed nature combined with LA Car Culture makes way too much damn sense here.

It has been something that has been thought of to be the most sensical way to take the IP since arguably the start; and there is a lot you can do that'd easily honor it's roots while harkening to the nature of the IP now. And not to mention, Universal is aiming to have this coaster continue the trend that Velocicoaster and Hagrids has done; of innovating what is possible with Intamin's pre-existing ride types.

I agree with @Crypt Keeper that this attraction is a massive W; and will allow them to set toe-toe with the likes of X2/Twisted Colossus from SFMM, and of Ghostrider/Xcelerator from Knotts.

How do you incorporate Twister into a coaster? Why incorporate Twister when it isn't a proven commodity? Why would ET be present in a coaster? What about the monsters? Really think this through. What on earth would this look like given the space constraints they have?

This is a good point, and it’s true for just about every other major movie franchise out there. The box office of this last movie may have underperformed by the Fast and Furious’s own standards, but it was far from a flop generally speaking. It was a massive movie by every fair account.

Not to mention, just as a property, F&F runs circles around BTTF and every other classic. It just does. It’s a pure money maker, even if the box office numbers have dipped gradually since F7 — which again, happens to every franchise. The fact that it was the tenth movie in the franchise and still landed in the top five highest-grossing films of the year is more than enough. No disrespect to BTTF or BTTF fans but there’s just no chance it could have sustained that level of success for ten straight movies.

And that doesn’t mean Fast and Furious > BTTF. It’s a subjective opinion as to which one is better. But as far as which property should headline USH’s next major attraction? Hard to think of a better option than this.

The attraction I'm talking about for Reference

So what I'm talking about attendance wise is this. This coaster with the proper theme could draw in near the amount of people at Potter or SNW.
If it was for example a great movie ride with many themes, I think it would draw more because your tons of different kinda fans...this is hitting just one base.
Second another example could be say a Zelda coaster, I know that would draw people from around the world, people cares about the IP in Europe and Japan.....F7F has a very limited base.

Heck a Harry Potter Coaster would move the needle more then this will, it will draw some people in then fade vs something that for years excites people and draws new people to want to visit this
