I have said this in quite a few posts now and feel like I’m losing my mind at this pointless conversation we’ve veered into.

Ultimately, we’re splitting hairs for the sake of argument. At the end of the day, both Chapek AND Iger are to blame for how we got here and it’s up to Iger to figure this all out now.

Or the Board to step up and take matters into their own hands. I would submit that having Iger figure out how to fix this is running the risk of repeating the mistake. As the famous saying, "Those that don't learn from the past are condemned to repeat it" and "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and expecting different results."

It’s just clear there is no successor plan whatsoever. Like it’s too obvious almost.

It's possible the board steps in if Iger can't start to turn this around within the next year. I do think there's good moves being made to set the TV & film side up for success for example and combining D+ and Hulu is a good move as well. Wall Street desperately wants them to sell ABC and other Linear channels, but Iger just came out with a statement sort of downplaying any sort of moves like that which had a negative stock response, so we'll see what happens.

Whatever happens, money needs to start getting put in the park again. In just over one month we'll be able to say Tiana is opening "this year" and they have absolutely nothing else on the horizon, aside from Test Track 3.0 which maybe they hope will buy them some time? Things need to get in motion and quick and that's just to be able to make an opening that's before the end of the decade at this point.

The board is supposedly the ones finding a successor since Iger cannot be trusted to do it right based on Chapek.

I'm all for ABC and the linear TV channels to be sold. TV is slowing dying in favor of streaming. As for the parks, the only things that I could see happening post Tiana's would be 2027 if the Avengers E ticket is still on for DCA or if they still can't decide on what an Avengers E ticket should be, maybe an Avatar land for LA2028. For WDW, maybe we will see Encanto or Indy for 2028 at AK.

This is a difficult time to divest since the business borrowing rates are so high. That's why you're not seeing many acquisitions anywhere. If there's an agenda to sell assets like ABC, etc., that might have to wait until the acquisition environment improves. Disney kind of has their hands tied in a lot of areas they need to fix. The theme park new attraction process is long. And the film process is too. The one thing they can fix quickly is to drastically cut the Disney + productions and instead rely on their excellent film catalogue instead of new releases. That's something immediately fixable. The other main thing is they need to change the customer culture they've developed in the past decade or two. Return to a customer friendly stance instead of the present 'screw the customers to get every last penny out of their pocket while downgrading the customer experience'. That attitude and policy really needs to change and get back to a pro customer experience culture.

Exactly. I understand when they were trying to stem the bleeding from Disney+ and completing the Hulu purchase and that the cash flow was a problem. However, they need to start the Animal Kingdom builds (as much as I hate to lose Dinosaur) and they need to greenlight some more projects for Hollywood Studios. At their current build pace, if they started today, they still wouldn't open anything new until 2026 or 2027.

What a dweeb. Way to blame your workers for the development environment that Eisner, you, Chapek, and you put them in.

Bob Iger HAND picked Chapek....the excuses

I'm sorry but literally anyone can run the company as well as Iger at this point he has learned NOTHING...he blames Covid for The Marvels....funny how No Way Home had BIGGER issues but at the core the film was still liked if not loved by many...so no Bob it wasn't covid that hurt the films

I also love them doing more what if's for Theme parks...stop blue skying ideas and start building. You know what people want either build it or don't but talking about a THIRD Disneyland park when you can't even confirm where Avatar will be....it's a joke.

He's pathetic (which we already knew). This was literally him a year ago:

“This company has been telling stories for 100 years, and those stories have had a meaningful, positive impact on the world, and one of the reasons they have had a meaningful, positive impact is because one of the core values of our storytelling is inclusion and acceptance and tolerance, and we can’t lose that,”
“I don’t think when you are telling stories and attempting to be a good citizen of the world that that’s political"

And a large chunk of the highest grossing movies this year were message-centric, but hey, why take blame for any failings when you can blame the peons?

Disney getting pressure again this week from dissident investment groups that want Board seats. Making it tougher for Disney to spend money to fix problems.

Movie wise they don't need more money

They need to find ways to make cheaper films until the box offices number reflect that

As for the Parks, that is bad news they need to keep getting work done or else I do think they could see dips in the coming years

I personally think that is why they said that park investment would be in the tail end of this decade. One, it will be post-Iger and thus not his fault. Two, it will give them time strengthen the other business units. Three, by having points One and Two behind them, Wall Street won't be slamming them for capital expenditures. Heck, they might even have movies that make money for a change by that time.

See but those other please don't need Money

Disney Plus is losing money and they are fine with that, which makes ZERO sense to me. Just change how that app works to make money or stop and sell your programing to others

The Parks need investment to keep up, while movies don't need more money they just need better writers and producers which will cost the same or less then what we have now. Wish shouldn't cost 200 million when Spiderman/Puss in Boots/Mario Movie are like half of that

They just need to make sure every film is a hit like they were Pre Pandemic, change or cut lose Disney plus and any other legacy Media that isn't producing money.

I just sucks that the Parks which are doing well but could do better will get less money because of other branches which should be the ones seeing the main cuts
The Parks show investment means more people coming and while its cool Disney can make profits on less people that doesn't mean having Disneyland sold out EVERY day would make less money, in fact in theory with the prices of food, merch and genie plus you want MORE people which requests investment

Déjà Vu: Nelson Peltz Officially Ignites Proxy War at Disney

Trian Partners CEO Nelson Peltz is seeking a seat on Disney's Board of Directors. Existing Disney leadership strongly opposes this

OFFICIAL: Musk Knows; Billionaire Amplifying Peltz' Disney War

Fans have speculated on if Elon could join the proxy fight Peltz is ramping up. It is confirmed that Elon Musk is aware of the proxy fight

Peltz actually has some good advice: quit overspending on the studio and put the money into the parks. Disney's overspending spills over into movie budgets, which means when a Disney movie bombs, money that could be spent at the parks has to go to the studio to offset those loses.

Disney is making bad movies and evaluating them they wonder what went wrong as they think they ticked all the boxes in their excel sheet. As a result they keep on doing the exact same thing. It's beyond comprehension...
If they start replacing CGI in their movies and tv show with well written dialog and stories is would be a huge improvement and save money.

So, Disney shook up their motion picture division a little. I don't what this will mean for the live action movies, including the new Snow White movie. Probably nothing but hopefully they can turn things around a bit.
