Nickelodeon Studios (1996) footage I found

Some footage I found on an old camcorder... includes exterior and interior of Nickelodeon Studios in 1996. I didn't include the game lab footage in the video since that can be found on Youtube already.

So while we're on the subject of past rides, it just occurred to me recently that it's already been two years since Nicktoon Blast got axed. Yeesh. Time's flying by quickly with this park.

To think soon it will have been two years since Jaws got the axe as well...

Speaking of Jaws, when did the staff of Jaws and the Amity area find out Jaws and the area was closing for good? I remember being at Universal in September 2011 (21st to be exact) and Jaws was closed until around 3pm.

^ According to what I've heard, they were informed around the same time that the official announcement was made.

Front line staff learned the morning of the announcement, I believe. It was officially announced on Universal's Facebook at exactly noon.

Thanks for that guys, I thought they would have been given far more notice than that. Although I guess as staff were going to be deployed in other areas, rather than loose there jobs they probably would not have to be given much notice.

I could've sworn I posted a response here a few days ago, but it seems to have disappeared!
Anyways, I have a friend who is a former skipper and she posted a strange message on FB the day before the announcement. I had no clue what it was referring to until I found out Jaws was closing. Seems like some of them knew at least a day in advance.

They said they lost everything from Sunday doing the restore of the site.

Were there any news or rumors about it before then? I wasn't really following anything then so I don't know but I'd find it hard to believe someone didn't have any sources and have rumors out there about it.

I was just happy I was going on vacation there a couple weeks before it got removed to get one last ride in. If only I had that kind of remarkable luck/timing with Back to the Future.

I had a feeling Universal was going to axe Jaws eventually, but I was shocked at how soon and sudden it was.

About 2 hours before it was announced to the public. We had no idea.

What I've always been curious of is why was JAWS' closure announced 1 month in advance while Nicktoon Blast's closure was announced almost 6 months in advance? Was the decision to shut the former down a very sudden decision and/or they didn't want the backlash to build up too much?

Thats an interesting way to think about it...Universal couldve seen a small bump in local visits from those wanting to get in last rides. Gotta wonder...

I think it was a sudden decision. I mean they went to work very quickly tearing that down and working on new Potter section. They probably saw they had a timetable to meet 2014 if they closed it down and had plans for it drawn up already and just went with it. I honestly don't know the answer but that seems logical to me.

Not exactly sure what you mean by the inside of Back to the Future. If you mean parts of the building that were left untouched when the Simpsons moved in, I have heard that in the child swap room on the bottom floor of the attraction, there is still an attraction warning sign detailing that it's a time travel chase. If you mean props from the ride, I can confirm that pretty much all of the props were saved and are currently in storage at Universal's warehouses, though sometimes they are re-used for HHN.
