Rumor has it Nighthawk has been officially retired, which does line up with the rumor of Cedar Fair's list of coasters marked for retirement in the next year or two for being unpopular/expensive to maintain.

If that's the case, then it's another closure without an official announcement beforehand. And that just doesn't sit well with me for any ride's closure, regardless of if it was popular or not.

Certainly glad I was able to ride it over the summer when I went. I know people aren't huge on Nighthawk/Stealth, and not without good reason, but that Flying Dutchman model was one of the most mind-bending coaster experiences I've ever had. All that jankiness, the reverse lift into the sudden flying position, the cloth restraints, the busted mechanical-looking ride vehicles, all contrasted with the very nice scenery and landscaping; it was one of the most unique rides I've ever been on, and I actually kinda loved it. Legitimately scary and unlike anything else I've ever been on, much like my first ride on Verbolten honestly.

One of my fondest (?) theme park memories was waiting 2.5 hours for Stealth at Great America in 2003. We got in line before sunset and it was dark when we finally got on. It was such a unique, scary experience, especially at night. I was sad when I learned it had been removed but relieved when I learned it had only been relocated. It's almost certainly reached the end of its service life, but the coaster world is less interesting without Stealth/Nighthawk in it.

I remember being a kid and riding the Borg before it was renamed after the owners changed. Did not know anything about star trek but still thought it was cool. RIP

Glad I got to ride Firehawk when it was still Borg Assimilator back in the day. It was my first ever “flying” coaster. I even got to ride the sister one at KI. RIP.
