Regarding size of the land, something we do know is that budget that would’ve gone to Yoshi went to SLoP.

Yeah a lot of what was supposed to be in production eventually just got cancelled or speculatively pushed back. Im hoping we get more interactive components.

Hi Stryker, so did it feel much more packed/crowded then when the first day when it just randomly opened?

Definitely way more crowded than the first day of softs or any other day for that matter. Around 12:30, the line for MK went all the way to Peach's Castle and even did a U-turn to near the Goomba crank.

So no chance of THs after all groups are called if the last group is 5-7? Cause they seemed to happen at six-ish yesterday, but if it were to keep up, I may consider going next Sunday afternoon.

Not sure but if the park is still open after the last group, they might open it up to everyone like they did last night.

The land size isn't the issue. It's the design.

In my opinion, Super Nintendo World in Japan is a masterpiece of theme park design. It's the best theme park land in the world. I remarked on this earlier, but the land feels like it was designed by video game designers. Stuff is hidden from the "player" using perspective tricks. The land starts with the simpler interactive experiences and gradually builds up to the more complicated stuff. The two levels create depth and scale. Even the smaller stuff is there, like how the paintings in the castle shift images depending on perspective like in Super Mario 64, or how you see the various mini-game enemies on Mt Beanpole when you first enter the land. There's plenty of stuff for people to do without the power-up bands, which give you a reason to buy a power-up band in the first place. Easter eggs are all over the place, from the rides (like the Mario ship from Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Yoshi, OMG) to the mini-games. Everything has a purpose. Unique food, unique rides, unique merch, interactivity everywhere. Donkey Kong will just enhance this experience.

Super Nintendo World in Hollywood has most of the picture, but is missing some pretty big details. You could double the size of the land and it would still be the same way. Random blocks were substituted in for experiences, and it doesn't work. Why should a guest buy a power-up band if they don't know if it's worth it? That's the whole point of the smaller stuff in Japan. 1-Up and Toadstool Cafe will always be crowded, as there's nowhere else for guests to get those items/food in the land. The multi-level experience is almost non-existent. There's no supporting attraction for guests to go to if Mario Kart breaks down.

The experience is still there, it's just missing a lot of the magic.

Since a few have already made some really good points, I'd just like to mention that the general SNW area is roughly the same footprint as Japan's SNW. Hollywood's is about 4k-5k sq ft (or .1 acre) smaller.

I just measured it myself and I got around a ~.5 acre difference, which seems a bit more substantial given the whole footprint of Japan's is around 3.6 acres. But I could be measuring incorrectly

SNW Japan looks cooler for sure, but I don't like the layout from a space perspective. The top level is like a skinny L, and the mini games all being lined up in order of difficulty is cool, but it makes it where the pathway is overly crowded with lines.

Orlando using this layout could be problematic.

Orlando has the same layout, but the pathways are wider. This should help with a lot of the issues Japan has (plus DK adds more room and stuff to do).

Also my friends keep asking me, is there a reason DK land is bigger then Mario land? I have no clue or answers to why

I see where you're coming from and don't disagree about the need for a snack cart and other things missing from Japan, but at the same time I still feel conflicted if this means SNW Hollywood will go down in history as the worst SNW, and it feels almost dejecting knowing that the one time we got a land first, which was something to look forward to as a local, we seem to have been dealt a very bad hand instead. I might be overthinking it or taking the flaws too much to heart, and while I know not everyone will like the land, it just feels a bit daunting going on here after still managing to have a great time last night and during THs despite them.

A part of me wants to say the extended queue might have been for the better considering this came up on my feed about what Runaway Railway has for one:

I think it might have been said already, but I hope changing some blocks to the music ones and other small but effective changes aren't out of the question, just like when Jurassic World got updated. Speaking of music, I really hope they release the soundtrack for it sometime later. I really like a lot of the new renditions and some of them were stuck in my head even after I got home last night.

I really don't feel bothered about us having the "worst" SNW. The core features of the land are essentially going to be the same once all three are complete, but missing the Yoshi ride. Not a big deal considering we got SLoP instead of Yoshi.

Look at it this way: You got invited to a friend's house for a bomb steak dinner. Let's say that you are you USH and the other two people coming over are USJ and UO'S EU. You get served a nice juicy steak dinner (MK) and baked potato loaded with bacon, cheese, sour cream, and butter. (DK) It also comes with some roasted mushroom, asperagus, and cauliflour. (Interactive components) and a side salad (Yoshi). While all three of the guests get the same exact dish, there's unfortunately not enough side salad or asperagus for you. Most likely you're not going to be bothered that much because you are getting the exact same juicy steak and loaded potato as everyone else.

You'll likely find flaws with the illustration at some point, but I won't complain about ours being the smallest as long as we have all the same core components that make SNW great. That's all I care about.

I think that makes sense, I vividly remember one of my first thoughts upon entering the land just putting aside how it was a smaller one because I felt blown away and immersed by all the scenery and being able to do some things from the series in real life, right down the characters carrying the same energy they do in the games, so I think the core things are there.

I even loved how the Yoshi part of the (extended) queue was and thought it was a product of doing the best with what they had, and that got strengthened yesterday when I decided to check it out just that once since Single rider is more optimal if you're a local and by yourself (or with a small party that you regularly visit with). Though at that point I'm just wondering if I'm biased as someone who grew up with the games, because apparently not everyone else can say the same. Maybe it's something that'll pass over with time like it did for EFG in USF like someone said earlier.

Finally made it on MK…then this happened:image.jpg
EDIT: Was evac’d off after sitting in the ride vehicle for about 30 minutes. TMs told the evacuees to leave the building but anyone in the line could stay — no passes or anything given to evacuees, even for other rides. Total waste of time.
The land was chaos, with lines once again snaking every which way and TMs not having any clue what line was for which experience. I understand we’re still in rehearsals but Jesus, how was there no plan in place for these crowds?

I think people misunderstand that "previews" are for working out the kinks. That's why they happen before the grand opening and are essentially bonus days for passholders to experience the new attraction with nothing guaranteed.

I know nothing is promised but it’s funny thst I went two weeks before these APs abs had a better time

Also doesn’t help when you see people walking in the Mickey ride early as you wait almost 2 hours for one ride

I know I know but pointing out why I understand some of the frustrations and very glad I had the time to go earlier

It still is irksome to wait in line for something, be evacuated before it starts, then be told to get in the back of the line if you want to try again. That is irksome no matter where it happens. Also, “technical previews” should be for working out the kinks. Why bother with changing the nomenclature? There is simply no reason for it to be as chaotic as it has been. Chaotic? Sure! But this degree of disorganization is ridiculous.

Agreed, they could give people in the castle line passes to use for later or at the very least once you get into the pre show rooms

Again - I think some people don't understand what "Technical Previews" entail...

I get it. It sucks - but it is a "bonus". There's a whole lotta fine print in the Pass Holder Event sign-up that warns about all of this.

Agreed but people like to complain (insert Taylor Swift Singing "It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, its me")

This is people's first impressions of the land and most people know its been open before today so they expect it to be ready, doesn't matter if they are right or wrong but if they create negative twitter and facebook posts like I've seen could hurt the hype a little. Just my two cents

Even though the park closes at 6pm today. They still have the same groups listed internally. 11-1, 1-3, 3-5, and 5-7pm.
