It's not whether you have nostalgia for it or not... you may or may not, that's not the point. Most people who ride GMR don't have any nostalgia for this ride and it is consistently one of the lowest rated rides on property by guests.

Add on that Disney has refused to updated the attraction and it's expensive to run and you can see why Disney is eager to slaughter the pig.

And I'm asking why you need nostalgia for a ride that features elements of a film that is less than six months away.

You don't, but as I said, guests don't like the ride. They just don't.

It had a ridiculous wait a couple weeks ago when I was there but what do I know. Maybe Disney should have just leveled the whole park and rethemed to Star Wars.

As I said, long waits are frequent on this attraction because they run it at half capacity almost every day. FP+ also bogs the stand-by line down.

When there's only 5 rides in a park, long lines are par for the course on almost any ride.

This park had less than 5 rides for years after it opened. I think it could survive a year or two back at 4.

It would survive, but in no way is it a direct comparison. One of those "rides" (i'd call it more an experience than a ride) was the Backlot Tour, which in itself was a 2.5 hour experience or so.

And even then, DHS was the "show park." They just even have less shows than they did back then too.

Also, Disney/MGM back then was meant to be a half-day experience. That's why Typhoon Lagoon opened in the same year, along with Pleasure Island. Eisner hoped to extend guests' stay a full day via these three options. Guests would head to Disney/MGM in either the morning or afternoon, with TL in the morning or afternoon, and PI at night.

The problem was that Disney/MGM was more successful than he had anticipated, and was packed to the gills. So they immediately set on expansion to make what was supposed to be more of an experience into a full-fledged theme park.

Yes. that's one of the reasons the park has such a small parking lot.

Was Disney-MGM cheaper than a MK or Epcot ticket when it opened, btw? Or was it the same price? I recall hearing on the Retro WDW podcast that How Bowers exchanged a two-day park ticket for both parks for an opening day MGM ticket, so I'm guessing yes.

Why does it have to be a joke? Might as well go all in instead of bastardizing what's there.

they really should drop the cost of the ticket for this park, but they won't. That would be admitting the park is "lesser than", and also probably just increase attendance to the park, making the lines for those 4 rides even longer.

That being said...how much do you want to bet that HS has MK single day ticket pricing once SWL opens.

I doubt the prices will rise to those of MK because Disney wants MK to be their flagship. We'll see prices go up overall.

Edit: This comes from a survey, not yet announced if this is coming to DHS or not.

Disney released a big chunk of land around DHS from conservation last year.

I've heard of such rumors about all of this. Let's just say SWL, gondolas, and this hotel are all connected.

This would be the 1% experience I would expect at Disney (if I was part of the 1%...or even the 10%). This even sounds like the boutique park experience I would expect from Disney.
