I don't necessarily believe what is being claimed here, but I wouldn't rule out a Jaws attraction from ever returning to the resort. The original Jaws ride is not coming back, but stuff like Kong at IOA and the tease of a BTTF coaster at the UK park shows that Universal may be willing to revisit properties if they have the right ride concept.

Yes but Jaws just doesn’t work outside of the original ride concept. It can’t be done with screens and no water.

You'd be surprised what creatives are able to do with the right tools. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea at Tokyo DisneySea is arguably the best "underwater" ride ever made, despite featuring no real water at all.

I do think going the submersible, "dry for wet" route could give the attraction a slight sci-fi tinge that is maybe slightly too over-the-top for JAWS (though I could easily brainstorm a ride storyline for this*), I'd love to see Universal attempt such a thing if an actual boat ride (outdoor or indoor) would be off the table. It could offer some pretty good scares if Universal wanted to go in that direction.

My preferred direction would still be an "indoor for outdoor" nighttime cruise around Amity on actual boats inside a large showbuilding.

* "The Matt Hooper Innovation Center at the Oceanographic Institute is testing new observation submersibles off of Amity Island, and we're among the first recruits, etc."

This is the thing. Everyone asking for a Jaws return realizes it’s most likely screens, right?

My guess is that if we ever got a Jaws ride again, it'd be similar in layout to Kong.
I don't mean the ride vehicle or system, but just the idea of "screen screen screen.. impressive animatronic at the end"

The most likely Jaws we’ll get is Supercharged so yeah Kong.

If we got a Jaws ride it would be within Universals version of the great movie ride and have a single scene dedicated to Jaws. We will never get a Jaws ride when they add 17 more Harry Potter additions. Money talks folks.

If this is hinting at Jaws being in consideration for the Simpsons replacement, I guess the folks at Creative would much rather have Wicked go to Epic so they can do the IP justice which is the right call in my book vs cramming it in Springfield. But at this rate I would much rather have Universal expand Shrek into this area as that is an IP that deserves much more than a play set.

If it doesn't wind up being utilized for a Black Lagoon ride at Epic, I think a Mack Rocking Boat would be perfect for a Jaws attraction.

Dream would be something indoor/outdoor, outdoor section a leisurely trip around amity with maybe some basic effects (shark fin) to add some kinetics to the Studios, indoor finale with the Orca, Jaws animatronics, and yes... screens. Rocking boat system would be so much more thrilling than the Kong/F&F Trams though.

Couldn't speak to whether the system logistically works in the Studios but considering Uni keeps bringing back Jaws as a summer pop-up, I wouldn't be shocked if there's enough interest/$$$ in the IP still to consider a new attraction.

Do we really see Wicked happening? I feel like the first movie did great and then everything petered out. I don’t see people clamoring for it.

I don't think Disney and Universal want to build water based dark rides anymore. I'm going to pay attention to Dollywood's addition to see how reliable it is.

It would surprise me to see an entire land dedicated to it, but it would not surprise me at all to see an attraction somewhere at the resort.

And even that addition is already significantly delayed. I love, love, love water dark rides ... but there's a reason they're becoming an endangered species.

100% agree that pretty much every park is shying away from water rides to save costs right now. At the same time though, this will also be the coolest Florida summer we'll see in our lifetime. Climate change is going to impact how these parks wind up designing attractions in the future as the heat becomes an ever increasing factor.

Not sure what form it would take, a return to water rides or finally building some of those international fully-indoor lands here, but I do think we'll out of necessity see a shift in design compared to what exists now to cool guests off again. That said, total blue sky for another thread.

Agree that a water ride is unlikely, but also think that they wouldn't bother with non-water Jaws attraction. I'd imagine they'd just use the space for a different, drier modern IP instead.

1) Unless they decide to make a land mixed with ideas, I don’t know if I see it at Epic. Not with the current design/vision.

2) Same. It’s a shame that they’re going away because there’s such value and immersion that comes with them.
