Here's my thing: is it truly discussion/debate if you ignore most of the valid questions thrown your way? Or is it bordering on trolling? None of the below were ever addressed whatsoever. One side was bringing up valid questions and getting nothing back. At a certain point, it feels like poking the bear just for kicks, especially when you already tried this and saw the results on a different site.

I responded to most of these, most were similar questions so there was no point in quoting everyone. It's also hard to respond to everyone appropriately when you're getting tagged on all of them.

I'm all for a Captain Cacao costumed character, but I'm still patiently waiting for Junior Gator/Prince Gator to get that treatment. We really should've gotten that for the Mardi Gras anniversary this year...

I don't see any responses about the quantity of merch, how it compares to other characters in the parks, how feasible it is to expect every original character to have a lightning-in-a-bottle moment before selling merch, what the difference is if the end goal is the same, etc. Most of that was all ignored and it's a trend I've noticed amongst these discussions.

I want to add that there was also a time when fans forced stuff for the sake of it. When HHNBear caught fire, we got accounts for HHN School Bus, HHN Puddle, HHN Blade of Grass, etc. No one could've expected a dancing bear or a random pumpkin to take off the way they did.

The likely story is Cacao was designed as an original character to expand the lore of Celestial without the intention of being the "it" stuffed toy - which is still an organically created movement at the end of the day.

I think a hint of both can be true. I think he can add to the lore and be the “it” toy, especially if it turns out there are no accompanying plushes or characters in Celestial Park. With the pirate get-up
and the dark fur it feels like Creative might’ve been conscious that they wanted a Not-Duffy Duffy.

Not saying you're wrong, but in my experience - the company's "It" thing usually differs from what the public gravitates towards.

I hadn't gotten the sense Universal is pushing this plush the same as Earl or Boo do at this time. That may change in the future if it catches on more than the small circles it's in now. The last few pages of this thread have brought Captain Cacao to the forefront than I think would've otherwise happened which leads me to believe this is an underhanded ploy by Universal to get us talking about it. Okay, I'm kidding on that last part.

Right now we I don't think we know for sure if there will or won't be a M&G with Cacao, Maya the Explorer, Vincent Various, and others who've yet to be named. What can be certain is that Universal is putting Celestial Park and its inhabits in the foreground which I think we can agree is a great thing! This means the original land—which is also the glue that holds the concept of Epic together—is being treated like any other IP-based land would be.

If Lost Continent were still in its original form would a Merlyn or dragon plushie not be received the same way?

Let's wait and see what unfolds over the next year. People are obviously going to latch onto an adorable plushie first but there may be merch for the other incoming characters and by that time he may not stick so much in the cast of Celestians featured in the park.

In other news, PCDev got to visit the park. Still watching the video, but two things of note so far. Ride ops for Battle at the Ministry have ridden the ride, and there is a single use express pass for breakdowns (but it doesn't work on Minecart Madness or Battle at the Ministry).

That’s 100% true. There’s a chance it ends up not being Capt. Cacao, since Universal TMs may not end up representing the public. We’ll c!!

Make fun places for guests to come to and they'll respond naturally to it. They had fun making Captain Cacao and folks are reacting to that energy, simple as that.
