I don't know whether to shake my head or laugh, well done good sir.

All the other stuff is very good to hear, especially Celestial Park's music. That is one thing I'm super intrigued about that hasn't really been touched upon yet.

I’m guessing neither Atlantic nor Blue Dragon have been open at all during previews?

I don't understand your point. The team is obviously trying to safeguard against images and videos being leaked to the internet and made a decision to try and limit to immediate family to control this. Clearly they heard the employee feedback and immediately adjusted it. Seems like a solid team whether marketing or operational.

Yeah because the employees who went to previews said not a word about the attractions at all. I mean, talking about how awesome Monsters is would never happen. Twitter blew up because someone imagined it. Of COURSE marketing is involved. This is orchestrated to build interest. Not releasing photos simply adds to the interest when the do appear (on media day of course). Disney did that for their parks as well.

Marketing is likely responsible for announcing the details of the previews. Operations will dictate how many people they want during each phase of previews (which decides number of +s for TMs). Marketing isn’t dictating that.

EDIT - and Disney hasn’t opened a US park since before cell phones were common place, so not a great comparison.

These previews are orchestrated to test the park, ready Team Members in all positions, and tweak operations before opening.

I cannot stress to you how important the last two weeks have been to design the operational playbook for the park.

For example, not enough Team Members were frequenting dining locations, which made it difficult to test operations there, so they decreased ALL food prices by 50% to lure in more diners. That wasn't advertised or promoted; it was not a promotion to make money, it was to give cooks and front of the house staff more time to test and adjust service.

Behind the scenes, people at the top are probably desperately hoping that since these previews are in-house, and no one wants to lose their job, no one speaks too openly about the shortfalls of this STILL UNFINISHED theme park. No pictures are allowed because that can be regulated, but I am sure some within the company would prefer Team Members not talk at all about the rides they're experiencing that are still missing many effects, some animatronics, and are experiencing extended downtimes while they work through the kinks of full operations for the first time.

Is it good promotion to have the most enthusiastic among us visit first—who also are the least likely to say negative things about their employer? Sure. That's a good effect of choosing TMs to visit first. But is this run by marketing? Absolutely not. They're busy dripping out fun and cool new details every single day to the public, where they can control the narrative. Like yesterday's podcast, the recent in-depth Hollywood Reporter, and the big media day push later this month.

My two cents. I am not privy to all information though, so grain of salt.

What a weird thing to be obsessed about. I think everyone understands your position. I don't think it's changed anyone's mind. What more are we going to get out of this conversation?

Immense respect as always for wording this in a far more level-headed manner than I would have.

There are soooo many TMs working in Epic who have never worked a park before. Their first real experiences with guests didn't occur until just a few weeks ago. Things are incredibly raw. Things are still unfinished. We have a ride that's not even open to TMs yet. There are so many clear reasons why Universal wants to keep things under wraps for a bit longer and only invite in select groups they think they can watch over. It's truly not that deep and it's certainly not some big conspiracy to screw anyone over.

The second that "friends" are allowed in (if that happens), I'll be a part of the group going in, but you won't catch me begging, pleading, and getting upset that it's not my turn yet. And you certainly won't catch me risking anyone's job just to get in a week or two earlier than everyone else.

There's a lot that people don't know about why certain decisions are being made and it leads to frustration understandably and a lot of incorrect assumptions & discussions. It happens. But we're so close, y'all. Just keep a level head a bit longer.

I wish they could have Dark Universe merch without the giant logo in 1990s font plastered everywhere. Some tasteful subtlety would be appreciated (I'm new to these specific boards, so if this is commonly tread ground, apologies to the horse, lol)

Agree, Dark Universe merch not doing it for me. Too much going on and I don't need every square inch of the front of my shirt covered. Hoping for some simple designs to show up later.
