It may be that it needs modification or something and they’re not convinced it will be ready for opening day. I wouldn’t write it off yet…

I had feeling there was gonna be some issues with that statue. However like stated above it’s probably coming still just not ready for an install.

There are plants in the art too. And they’re still using this pic on the website. I wouldn’t count it out yet.

I agree, there's still electrical at the spot. The landscape subcontractor probably had that planter on their project list to get done so they could get paid and leave the site!

If the dragon was cancelled completely, that circle/curb/planter/whatever in the middle of the path wouldn't be there. They'd cut it out and repoured the path.

Now it could be delayed indefinitely, or value engineered into something else though. lol

Best view of the spinning structure of the Chronos so far!

On the plus side you can make out white lines on the building front that will glow at night. That will be very pretty to see!

I think it's too soon to call the dragon gone. Here's an earlier photo that shows the same area with electrical components in the square space on the opposite side of the planter.

blueDragonSpots.png

The dragon statue will connect to the ground at three points: the circle planter, the square across from it, and the rectangle structure seen in the shadows just before the bridge.

We'll have to call it the Blue Restaurant instead. :p

Even if they're not they'll probably be hidden with some additional decorative elements. It would be baffling if after all that those would be left exposed that way.

The figures on the side are really cool. This tower is getting far more detailed than I expected.

I happened to be standing very close to the park this morning around 4:30am and I could hear music coming from the park. It was either from DKC or CP, but by the way it sounded, my guess is CP.

When I saw these statues added to either side of the Chronos I was surprised. Aesthetically, they are different than the dynamic, classical, style of the Helios and Luna statues. These are more in a 1930s Art Deco or Streamline Moderne style, which, while different, does go well with the Chronos itself.

But what was more surprising to me was how their hands were raised, palms up, almost in a religious pose. This vibe is furthered by the fabric stoles, kind of like a priest or pastor would wear.

They also evoke the sculptures and statues integrated with architecture typical of the1930s, which was sometimes propagandist in purpose.

So, I wonder if these statues will be off-putting to some people, right at the entry. They may feel a bit cult-ish, a little "too meaningful." It may have been good to tone this down a bit by not having the palms seemingly turned up "to heaven" and rather have them on their hips or holding a sphere or something more secular/scientific.

We'll likely discover references to other gods and goddesses over time. Since they usually involve some kind of worship, it's not surprising the design leans into those other aspects on the Chronos as well. It's likely it will make sense once we get more information about the story of Celestial Park, how it came to be, and the people that inhabit the land as part of the story/lore once it comes out.

Specifically (from here):
Though we don’t know who built the Chronos, we do know it’s very old. People have come to live in Celestial Park and maintain the device, as well as the land. These residents are known as “Celestians.” They figured out how to build the park’s other portals.
