From the god-awful "scare cam" footage to the underwhelming line-up, it's like they want this project dead before it even opens. Sorry, not sorry.

The scare cam footage that has been featured on pretty much every HHN ad ever?

I just mean from a "marketing to the casuals" perspective. If any of them remember BELIEVER, the movie, the recollection of it -- or its reception -- probably isn't positive.

I'm sure the house itself will be quality.

Having "The Exorcist" before the believer part is more than enough marketing potential. Sure the film sucked, but the properly lends itself well to a house.

I am surprised however at the lack of Chucky (or other major IPs) to drive more merchandise sales... only reason why he shows up at HHN each year. Also surprised at the lack of any Blumhouse synergy.

Hey, at this point, Waterworld is probably better known as a global theme park franchise than a middling Costner vehicle, so maybe that's how Exorcist Believer will end up.

There's a YouTube video describing the Avatar land at Animal Kingdom where a kid asks, what are these from, and the other says "From the movie" and the kid responds "there's a movie???"

Exorcist Beliver was such a good house. I am a little suprised by its inclusion but have full faith in Universal that this will be incredible.

Late to the party question, but are these houses new versions, or recreations of what we've seen?

Who's scarecrow though???

This has to appeal to a broad audience more than HHN. They went with the safest options for a reason. They're all proven commodities and successful haunts.

As far as the Believer tagline, probably a rights thing. But the good news - it's all interchangeable!

I bet you a beer they'll market it as THE EXORCIST Believer HOUSE

Wonder if they'd make Chucky one of the bar areas. That feels like the best fit.

And tbf, they are explicitly calling it "Blumhouse's The Exorcist: Believer" in the press notes.

I wonder what the operations and format of this will be. Pay once to get in? Price per house? Open all houses or stagger them around based on staffing?

This is … not an inspiring lineup to me. TCM is the least appealing of the major slashers and I can’t imagine it moves merchandise the way Chucky or Halloween does. It seems like the least “socially acceptable” major slasher outside a horror-specific environment, which matters for merch.

Exorcist: Believer wasn’t just a failure, it was a historic bomb - one step down from Ishtar and its ilk. Sticking it in here seems like a really transparent corporate mandate to try and put a positive light on Uni’s massive overpay for the IP and not something driven by creative considerations in any way. I also felt the house, while fine, was MASSIVELY overrated, and unlike this year’s Ghostbusters really did suffer from being attached to a bad film. And again, I can’t imagine even the original Exorcist is a merchandise juggernaut.

I know Scarecrows is beloved, but my understanding is that its reputation rests largely on cast intensity, not something that can be reliably reproduced. I’d think it would be wiser to go with an “impressive sets” all timer like Pier.

Most importantly to me, there doesn’t seem to be a hint of dark humor in any of these houses. That’s a HUGE and defining part of the HHN brand.

I’d have a hard time thinking of a more uninspiring lineup. It’s really dimmed my enthusiasm for the project. I feel like you could have picked any four random houses from the last decade in Orlando and gotten a better mix.

Surpised they switched Halloween for TCM. Guess they’re doing a similar house like Legacy of Leatherface in Hollywood?

But hey, TCM here = Good ass BBQ food options

As Leatherface is currently one of two slashers available for purchase in one of the biggest games today, Fortnite.

Yeah, I don't think it's unreasonable to be disappointed by Believer. The house, imo, was really good, but boy was that movie boring.

That having been said... again, Waterworld was one of the biggest bombs ever. Ideally, you want an attraction based off of something good, but if it's not, we have proof that something can transcend its origins.

Hopefully the house is great. Or, failing that, hopefully they can swap it out with the Flanagan movie as soon as they can.

That might speak to popularity. More likely it speaks to rights issues, which we know are a big mess for Freddy and Jason. It doesn’t really speak to “social acceptability.” I think it’s a lot more likely someone would wear a Chucky or Myers shirt to the office Halloween party than a Leatherface shirt - there’s that whole “wearing human flesh” thing, for one. But “social acceptability” aside, Chucky and Myers gear seems MUCH more ubiquitous then anything related to Texas. And doesn’t Universal fully control the Chucky IP?

I believe it was said somewhere that this is being done primarily by members of the Orlando team, so I'd imagine this would be based on the 2021 Orlando TCM house.

To be fair, Leatherface had to be significantly toned down to appear in Fortnite, which has lead to numerous complaints I've seen. His skin mask has been replaced with a bag over his head, among other things.

So from the video there was a footage of folks in someplace that looks like the venue? Did they really set up a mock-up and film for this?

I believe they used last year's houses.

You can see the facade from Exorcist & Unmasked, as well as scenes from Oddfellow and Bloodmoon (the bar part).

Hey, I agree - and it's one of the reasons I didn't purchase it; but that doesn't change Epic saw he was worth adding to a game that's "outside a horror-specific environment" (Which is a poor crux for an argument since we're talking about using Leatherface in a horror-specific environment....)

Like "Oh no, he's not Top 2... he's Top 5... what a bust!"

Leatherface is a horror icon, and is absolutely deserving of having a spot in this. I think the point being made is that Leatherface isn't as merchandisable as the other slashes, as the character is inseparable from gore without doing something like Fortnite did. I don't think hardcore HHN fans would have any reservations about buying a shirt they could mostly only wear at haunt events, but the general public might.

It's funny to me that anyone would complain about this. It's a tourist attraction in an out of the way part of the US and should probably only be visited if you have other plans while already in Vegas. It's a bonus. It literally did not exist until now and otherwise would not exist unless they can plant in some existing or easy properties. It's not going into our beloved Hollywood or Orlando parks. It's starting its own path -- think of any of the other HHN iterations in their first year and legitimately they were probably worse. It's also year round, which probably means day time too. At that point, who cares what it is? You want a little bit of horror in March at 2:15pm while taking a break between the slots and you expect them to deliver an A+ original maze that'll break the mold of the haunt industry? It's Van Helsing, it's House of Horrors, it's The Walking Dead Attraction -- as long as it serves its purpose, WHO CARES!
